The Burton Malolo Snowboard is the one board that will surf the fresh pow the day after a big dump, as well as master the whole mountain as the snow settles over the next few days. Burton designed this versatile board with big-mountain and backcountry freestyle in mind, incorporating the S-Rocker shape that starts out with a rocker camber from the tip to under your front foot for float, and then transitions to regular camber to the tail to maintain stability through driving pow turns, variable conditions, and even hardpack.

I've been riding for 26 years now, between my riding bro's and myself we've owned close to 200 different boards by different manufactures, from the original Burton Woody all the way to the sickest one of the all, the Malolo. Couple years ago I bought two Fish (couldnt pass on the price) and thought the Fish was the best ride, until I bought the Malolo. Riding the Pacific Northwest, we get tons of deep pow and the Malolo flies right through it, super stable at speed, killer carver on the groomers and by the end of a insane pow day the light weight really is nice on the old knees.

Hello. I'm 5'9 and weight 155. Should I get the 154 or 158. I am currently riding a K2 Electra in 153. I rode a 158 wide once and didn't like it. I don't do a lot of speed runs. I just love turning. I surf and it shows in my style of snowboarding.

agreed, the 154 will be perfect. you gotta remember these boards because of the binding setback, ride longer then they actually are, so the 158 would ride like a 161 (to big for you). I ride the 162, but I'm 6'1" and 195lbs

The 154 will be fine, and you will be able to whip it around a lot easier than the 158. The Malolo has a tapered tail that will sink the tail and lift the nose so you don't need that big of a board.

The malolo is one of the best powder boards in my opinion it floats in pow with minimal effort and handles like a dream. The tapered design and s rocker make it super easy to keep the nose up no matter how deep it gets. The reason I like the malolo so much is that it kills in the pow but it is still fun to ride on the groomers and a few inches of fresh.

I'm 5'6", 140 lb... i currently ride a 2005 153cm salomon forecast and that's probably the longest board i can comfortably handle... i'm really interested in the malolo as a powder-only board... since the recommendation is to size down 3-4cm, would the 149cm size for the 2010 be the ideal size for me? how does the s rocker design impact sizing? thanks.

The description is a pretty good indicator of the conditions that this board is suited to. It's not a full blown powder axe, but it eats fresh, deep powder for breakfast.
Let's face it, unless you are jumping out of helicopter or hiking for all your turns in the backcountry, there's not many days out on any hill when you aren't going to need to negotiate some gnarly traverse or a shitty gully runout or a wind-blown icy face to get to the goods and this is where this board has it over a fish. Also, if you go switch, you won't die. For me, it is a great compromise between a fish and an all mountain or freeride board. I was riding this board in japan for the last 3 weeks just about everyday, with lots of fresh snow (some nights we were getting 70cm of fresh) and I've gotta say this board was great, a big fat shovel nose to keep that nose up is really good.
Only slight negative is the fact they've changed the ICS screw mounts for the 2011 boards. I have a 2010 supermodel X and a 2009 love which have the old screws and now this board with the new ones and 2009 cartels which means I have to carry 8 screws/plates instead of 4.

The process and the Malolo are totally different boards. The process is a new board built after Jussie's board from last year. A great freestyle board that will destroy the park and the whole mountain. The malolo is a freestyle board built for deep powder. I wouldn't use this board in anything but knee deep powder or more.

This is powder board that still have the ability to get you around the whole mountain even as the fresh snow starts to disappear. Take this thing into the trees and turn on a dime then move on to the wide open bowl and get your turn on. Drop some cliff and keep you nose afloat with the S-Rocker on this board. This board takes the best part of snowboarding (riding powder) and makes it better.

I have no problems with Reps commenting on products, but they shouldn't be allowed to rate. Half of these "reviews" are just catchy product descriptions, totally non objective, and with no evidence that the person has ever used the product.
