    Next-level response for all-mountain assaults.

From performing high-flying stunts in the halfpipe and terrain park to slashing pow and boosting booters in the backcountry, Mark McMorris and Danny Davis rely on the lightweight, insanely responsive, and ultra-comfy performance of the Burton Men's Ion Snowboard Boot. Response-enhancing features and a stiff flex allow you to pop pillows, spin jumps, and charge steeps with mind-blowing precision and seamless comfort.

Speed Zone Lacing independently tightens the upper and lower zones with the simple tug of a handle, and Burton added New England Ropes laces this year for durability you can trust. Featuring a unique Burton-exclusive construction, the Infinite Ride 4 liner will never break down or feel flimsy so you can charge the mountain with confidence season after season. Additionally, this high-end, heat-moldable liner is constructed with Tuff Cuff for increased heel hold, wrapping the ankle with medial and lateral support for a dialed-in fit that's not too restrictive. Ultra-soft gel cushioning fused to the area where your ankle strap rests allows you to crank down your bindings without getting painful pressure points.

New for this season, the breathable DryRide Heat Cycle lining pulls heat-robbing sweat away from your skin while also capturing and radiating heat back to your foot so you stay warm and comfy all day long. Retaining heat during the coldest of shred sessions, the boot's Sleeping Bag Reflective Foil reflects body heat back to your foot to keep your toes cozy. ReBounce cushioning and a Level 2 molded EVA footbed absorb shock from harsh landings and smooth out vibrations when you're riding through choppy terrain. The AutoCANT EST-Optimized sole automatically aligns with your body's natural stance in order to reduce foot fatigue and relieve pressure on your knees, and it's low-profile for maximum board feel and control. The Ion is finished off with an Aegis antimicrobial treatment that helps fight foot funk so the smell isn't overwhelming when you let the dogs loose at the end of the day.

    These Changed EVERYTHING for me

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

After having a pair of Burton Driver Xs for.....10 years, their stiffness had completely evaporated, and I had been riding essentially a freestyle boot for the last 7 years. I selected these boots based on their flex rating (8 of 10) and how that fit with my setup and riding style. They certainly do not disappoint. Plenty of stiffness for responsive edge to edge carving, easy in and out, and the SpeedLace system has worked well so far (5 total hard days of riding). For my feet these boots were about 85% comfortable out of the box, but I have plans to get them heat molded, and will update you all after a few more days on the hill. If you are looking for a great long-term, highly responsive, and comfortable boot, the Ions will not let you down.

    Love it

Really comfy boot once you've let the liner mold to your foot a bit. Suprisingly lightweight boot that is nice and stiff.

I tried these during a demo day and was using a lot of different bindings and the Burton boots meshed nicely with all of them. They are really supportive and really help control your board nicely in all condition.

Could be a little too expensive and stiff for a beginner rider, but overall great performer

Good, but wish they were more aggressive

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I gifted these boots and the recipient is pretty stoked on them, but wishes they were a little more aggressive. Here is his review... "I give them four stars because the soles aren't very aggressive making it tough to grip on hard and steep inclines. They packed out more than I anticipated... if you like a tight boot, go at least a half size and maybe even a full size down."

Would be great if build properly

A very nice stiff boot, with right mixture of comfort and stiffnes. However, after just 50 riding days or so (which in my case took more then a year, so no warranty), the pirelli protector just went off on both foots..... see pictures. Also got really soft, with toe part completely packed.
I believe that for this price range more then 50 days of riding is expected...

(used with Union force and Burton Cartel)

Really disappointed with build quality =(

Not what they used to be.

I came from a pair of 2012/2013 Ion's that had over a 100 days in them and were getting pretty packed out. The new liners appear to be closed cell foam. Originally I had a lot of ankle joint pain but after shaving away a little foam on each side they are amazing. I wouldn't worry about heat molding them as with the new liners I don't think it does much, but don't be afraid of some sand paper and a dremel tool to get the perfect fit.

Update on my review: Day 12 in these boots and the new "improved" New England ropes that tightens the top portion of the boot literally snapped. This happened after skinning into the backcountry. I was able to tie the handle back on to the rope, but it's pretty insane to have to do this on day 12 with a $500 pair of boots. I'm hoping backcountry will help me out with an exchange here but they were purchased about 5 weeks ago so we'll see. I'm done with Burton. My old Ions have no issues other than being packed out, these lasted 12 days (not even full days).

    ***update***

Well after returning the above boots I went to a local shop and literally tried on every pair of boots they had. Bottom line: The Ions still felt the best. Backcountry took great care of me and I ordered another pair this time in black (above pair were LTD). Strangely these fit very comfortably without having to modify the liners at all. I have one day in them right now. Hopefully the strings hold up. If not I may look into making my own out of spectra or some other stronger material than New England.

Most durable responsive boot in the game

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

After two seasons in driver x's I swapped over to the ions and I dont think I'll ever ride a different boot. It flexes just enough for jumps but is responsive enough to land bigger cliffs and charge chunder. They are very comfortable for how stiff they are and only flex when you want them to. All round kick ass boot for the kick as charger looking for a nice stiff boot.
