High-tech freeride fiend.
If unrivaled response and an ultralight feel are what you demand in a binding, then you don't have to look any further than the Burton Diode Re:Flex Snowboard Binding. Used by backcountry heavy-hitters, Nicolas Mueller and Jussi Oksanen, the Diode harnesses the power of carbon fiber to shave weight while improving strength and response to create a binding that rides like no other.
When you're riding in steep, sketchy terrain and no-fall zones, you need your board to precisely follow your every command in an instant. That's why the thin, minimalist highback is infused with carbon fiber to keep it stiff and supportive, and carbon fiber in the single-component baseplate reduces weight while creating lightning-fast response and a precise ride. This season Burton added a unique translucent polycarbonate construction to give it an eye-catching look
The Hammockstrap ankle strap is cored-out to keep it lightweight, and it has a nylon strip running down the center that gives you a direct connection to your board at all times. New this year is Flex Slider tech, which keeps the strap out of the way when you're strapping in so you can get your boot in and out more easily. An over-the-toe design allows the Gettagrip Capstrap to lock down your boot securely without creating pressure points. Double Take buckles have teeth on both sides to make clicking in faster and smoother, not to mention more secure. Finally, it has a FullBED footbed with minimal EVA cushioning to absorb shock from harsh landings and uneven terrain without compromising board feel.

- Q & A
I own the Diode's from last season and there are some minor changes that have made those great bindings even better. The toe strap is made of a softer rubber that forms better around your foot. The highback has a matte finish and is more streamlined. They are lighter, giving you a little extra boost when popping an air. Only 4 stars because any binding that costs more than $400 should have a black color option.
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I've tried lots of different bindings and so far this is my favorite. It is light, stiff and great response. If you like all around good binding I think this is it. definitely worth trying them out.

I've used the Diode Re:Flex and EST versions and really enjoyed these bindings. Here are a few quick points on each:
If you're after a highly responsive binding this is the binding to look at. I've ridden these in both a medium flex boot and a mid-stiff boot and really enjoyed the binding for both.
These are the step up from the Genesis in terms of a more responsive binding.
