Defy convention in the Burton Women’s Defiance Pant. This Burton snowboard pant refuses to conform to convention and bend to the fickle will of Mother Nature. Two-layer Gore-Tex protection and a satin mesh lining slap blizzards in the face for presuming that this Burton pant can’t deal. The Defiance Pant fits slightly loose yet remains mobile so you can add another rotation to your repertoire. Mesh-lined vents release excess heat and waterproof zippers combine with fully taped seams to keep you protected from wind, rain, sleet, and snow. - Fall 2008.
Bottom Line: Defy the storm in the Burton Defiance Pant.
This is the size chart you should follow when buying Burton pants. If you waist is between 25 and 26 inches then get the small. If you are smaller or bigger than that this buy accordingly. XS: 23 - 24" S: 25 - 26" M: 27 - 28"
I bought these pants last year in the "Gore Skull Print" pictured, and I love them. I never figured out why the design was called "Skull Print" though, cuz I still haven't seen any skulls. I am 5'5", 135lbs. and the small fits me beautifully. I have worn them boarding, sledding, snowmachining -- anything you can imagine in the snow, and they have kept me nice and dry. Despite all the rough play I put them through, they haven't even started to rip, fray, or fade! They don't have any insulation to speak of so I always wear at least some thermals underneath, but they have plenty of room for layering. I love the way they look on me as well-- very sporty, but in an understated way. I have received many compliments on them as well :) Overall, a great snowboard pant that I would highly recommend!
Tell me about it, burton sizes are so confusing! last year I almost bought a pair of snowboarding pants in a L and had to return them cause they were so tight in the waist it was uncomfortable (I can't remember if it was slim fit, original fit, or sig fit?) so then I bought another pair in size L in team fit and they are WAY huge on me, I spent all last season hiking them up as I was riding, even after I adjusted the waist straps as tight as they go, so annoying! so now I need new pants this year! but I have no clue what size to get depending on what style fit I'm buying? I want to buy online now because the prices are so good, but I have no clue what size to get?! I need help...I wear a size 8 or 10 in most pants and weigh about 155-160 pounds and i'm about 5"5...why should buying snowboarding pants be this difficult?!
Ok. I wear an 8-10 in most pants, I'm 6'0 and 165 lbs. Burton Sig Fit in large fit me, team fit seems too big but I could go with L or M. So I'm thinking that Sig is normal, Slim you need to go a little bigger, Team maybe a little bit smaller, but I'm not into the skinny knees look, I gotta bend those babies! I just ordered the defiance from another site (only because they had it in Large in the Gore Skull print!) so we'll see if my made up rule applies to all Burton pants.
Hope this helps you. Remember, returning stuff is usually not too much a hassle, either!

I got these in the azul color for my girlfriend for Christmas. She absolutely loves them. I did tons of research and found that these pants are the best price for the quality of product you get (waterproof rating, goretex, brand). The color is pretty sweet, not obnoxious or too bright. Her burton jacket happens to zip right into the pants too!
I got her an x-small as she is about 5'3 and 105 lbs. Fit her perfect with the adjustable waist.
I really like these pants. Granted I haven't put them to the test of really wet conditions, I trust they'll do the job since they're gore-tex. The Azul color is perfect - bright enough to be spotted on the mountain, but not obnoxiously bright.
These pants look like snowboarding pants (aka. are fairly baggy) but not too baggy either (I'm in my 30s and don't want to look like a teenager ;-) There are enough pockets for everything, and have thigh vents for when it gets hot. The waist some built in velcro on the inside so you can adjust it to be smaller if needed. The only thing they could improve on is that my Bonfire pants have some sticky plastic thing on the inside of the waist to keep your shirt tucked in. It'd be nice of Burton could add that also. Otherwise, very happy with these pants.
As for sizing, I'm 5'4", 135 pounds. Typically wear a size 6 or a waist 28" or 29" in jeans. These pants in small fits me pretty well. The waist is about an inch too big but gives me enough room in the thigh area.
