Burton packed the Women’s Baker Insulator Jacket with a whole lotta down (750-fill, to be exact), but you wouldn’t know it to look at this jacket's sleek, non-bulky silhouette. All this puffy power means you’ll stay unbelievably warm when you layer the Baker under a shell in the gnarliest conditions, and when the skies are clearer, it keeps you plenty warm on its own. In fact, when you pull the cozy removable storm hood over your head and snuggle your hands into the microfleece-lined pockets, the Baker could be all you need.

  • Scooped collar shaping blocks wind
  • Microfleece chin guard prevents chafing and irritation

runs small in the chest/ribs. I always wear a M in burton, and both M and L were too tight

Runs small

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

It runs small. I normally wear a medium, but sometimes I can get away with wearing a small. The medium was too tight in the shoulders for skiing/riding, but if I were to wear it for walking around, it would fit okay. Not enough mobility in the shoulders for skiing/riding. It would probably be okay if I got a large. I like that the hood is removable so I can have it on when walking around, but take it off so it won't be bulky when riding.

Other than the size problem, was there anything else wrong with it?

Responded on

No. nothing else wrong with it. The weekend after I wrote this review I wore it all weekend at a music festival in Maine, where it was pretty cold. Probably in the 40s-50s most of the time, and the overnight low one night was 32. I was up pretty late each night so it could have been in the 30s. I wasn't used to the cold at this point in the year. It kept me nice and warm, and everyone else there was cold, but I wouldn't be able to ski in it without it being a size bigger. The only issue i can think of is that the down leaks out a little, here and there, but that happens with every down jacket I have ever had. I got a 750 fill Stoic Down jacket in a medium and I love it.

Loved the color and feel of this jacket; however, it was quite small sizing. I wear a medium to large in jackets and the Large was very snug, even without winter clothing underneath.

Did you keep the jacket? Does it shed feathers? I ordered this jacket, but was actually sent the more expensive version (don't know how that happened) and I am considering sending it back because it sheds so much. But other than that I LOVE it. I wanted to know if this one sheds at all?

size problems

really nice but very tight thru hips----normal small in shoulders, xs in hips----makes it hard to get a good fit
sorry to have to return it

Looks nice. How much does this weigh?

This thing is bomber it is a 750 down fill. It is ultra lightweight and packable. My guess is it weighs just a few grams. Ultra toasty for when it's super cold.

I'm 5'11'' and need gear cut long enough to cover my slender arms and torso. What is the back length on this jacket?

Responded on

Did you end up trying this jacket or ever find out the length? I have a long torso also and am looking for something that isn't too short.

Responded on

this jacket is very long in the arms and waist, just happens to be for very thin people though.
