The Burton Men’s AK BK Insulator Jacket works as a serious mid-layer piece when the temps get brutally cold, a bomber outer layer when the temps are a bit cold, and your go-to piece for bar-hopping after the ride. Unlike those ultra-puffy down jackets which don’t even let you move around to strap in and ride, this Burton jacket features low-profile construction and still maintains the warmth of high-loft 700-fill down. Not to mention the soft, warm, polyester lining.
Bottom Line: You don’t live in Florida. Get yourself a real jacket.

It is pretty light. It is supposed to be worn under you AK jacket to keep you warm. It can also be worn as a windbreaker.

Great layering piece for those really, really cold days, or great to wear around town on a snowy day... Thumb holes in the sleves... GENIUS!... In my opinion this jacket offers extreme warmth for how light and small it packs down to.......Pit zips to boot!!! AK Stuff is the BEST!
As a midlayer, does this jacket have the double-sided zipper
As a midlayer, does this jacket have the double-sided zipper and the wrist-connection points that help it zip into a 3-in-1 jacket?

Since you're a burton rep, I'd like to mention that my interest in this jacket is primarily related to the fact that it has pit zips. This is the only midlayer down piece on the market, to my knowledge, that has realistic core venting. Nice job, it's a good step. Unfortunately, it is disappointing to hear about the lack of 3-in-1 zip in. Next year, perhaps? A mid-layer piece needs to be more functional for more purposes to get me to shell out 250 for it.

It does not have the 3-1 zip in, but is still meant to be a layering jacket underneath a shell. This jacket is ultra light-weight and comfortable!!!

I can't say enough good things about this jacket. The fit is spot on. The weight to warmth ratio is good, not the best but good. The neck height is great for stand alone use or layering. The one issue with the design of the coat is there is no protection from the pitzips. I usually wear a short sleeve under it when out on the town and that metal to skin contact could easily be avoided.
