When Mother Nature bares her teeth, Burton's premier Gore-tex shell, the Men's AK 3L Hover Pant, provides bomber, lightweight protection. This technical shell pant’s outer Gore-Tex fabric ensures not a drop of moisture infiltrates the pants and keeps thing breathable when you sweat. Burton used 8mm and 13mm Tiny Tape to seal the seams, along with water-resistant zippers, to cut the weight of the AK 3L Hover Pant even further. Ballistic nylon paneling provides killer durability, so you'll be wearing these pants for many seasons to come. In warmer weather, unzip the Hover Pants exterior hip vents to dump some heat. Burton’s signature fit provides you with enough room to move, without feeling overly baggy. - Fall 2008.

Super light weight and waterproof!

I bought these mid season this year and have put in a handful of days in these so far. First off, these pants are super light and very comfortable to wear. The Gore-Tex is more of a softshell laminate than it is an actual shell. Much softer than the corresponding Hover jacket that I own as well. The Burton Sig fit is perfect, enough bagginess that gives you good room to move around in, but not gangsta big. A large fits my frame (6'1, 185) perfectly. They're obviously super waterproof, as all Gore-Tex is and have kept me perfectly warm with a good base layer underneath. As others have said, there is is no mesh on the vents, but that is hardly a reason to knock the pants. I mean, if your vents are open even with a mesh liner, you'll still get a bit of snow in there anyway, right? All in all, these pants are awesome.

trying to figure out what size will work. I am a 34w 32L and going by the reviews, a large would fit. But I have some burton cargo's and they are a medium and fit great. Any help?

Once you go Gore-tex, you don't go back...

These are by far the best pants i have ever owned. 5'11 170lbs and the Large fit me perfectly. I was able to pick them up for around 140$ from brociety, one of the best steals i've ever seen. Nothing comes close the waterproofness or breathability of gore-tex, and the AK styling and fit is on point.

I am 5'' 6', is the M allready to big for me? Any experiences?

Responded on

I'm 5'6" 155lb, and own the small size in AK 3L Hover Pants, and it feels too big for me.

Responded on

I'm 5'6" 160lb and have the AK pants in small, I find that its just the right fit for me because I like a little baggy but not too long.

Light and Durable!

These are really light and very durable. They have handled a ton of days this past season and did not rip at all. Charging cliffs and going through trees was no problem for these pants. I love mine!

Yo I haven't rocked the pants yet...bought em for next season.
But let it be know that Dog funk is RAD! Some complications came up during my order but from start to finish this company was cool all the way through.

I will continue to buy through dog funk as long as the service level stays at this high caliber!

It's Love, Have Fun,

Thank you Dog Funk.

It says Gortex softshell or proshell. What is the difference and what pants have what please?

Responded on

thats an AWESOME question, i dont know which is which but ive wondered that too. Goretex softshell is a bit less durable but softer to the touch, slightly stretchy, and way more breathable, and of course its totaly waterproof. Goretex proshell is traditional harshell material and is super durable, but not as soft or breathable as shoftshell

Best Answer Responded on

Correct, Proshell will have a crinkly feel to it where the softshell will breath better and be softer to the touch w/out that crinkly feeling.

According to the Burton website...
- Goldenseal, Tiger Camo and Olive are Softshell
- True Black and Resin are Proshell

Best pants I have ever owned

I was tired of getting wet and having pants rip so I invested in these and I could not be happier. Burton pants fit me way better than any other brand. 5'11" 32W 32L and I wear a Large. I love the pockets, they are the perfect size. Breathability is insane because there are vents on the inside and outside of the thighs that create a wind tunnel over your legs. They are light, on a scale from 1-10 they are a 3 (ha 3L). These pants are the best piece of gear I own. Worth every (discounted 50% off) penny.

STEEZY... but overpriced @ $400 MSRP

Nice pants. Very dry. Well constructed. Large fits pefect in legnth and waist for my 33W32L body. A little pricy though for shell only. I feel that pants with a $400 MSRP should have insulation or preferebly a removable liner. Also the side vents are just open to the inside and let snow in, completely rendering the waterproofness useless. For $400 Burton could have and should have thrown some mesh in there. Got mine for $150 @

Great all-season pants!

Great pants for all-season use. The zippers work great for fast air cooling on spring days. They work great also on wet snow days keeping the moisture out. Only flaw i found in them is that the glove clip in the front pockets should be removed as it digs in when you bail. All i need now is a matching jacket though to be able to zip the pants to powderskirt.

Great protection

just like the guy before me-great pants only reason im returning mine is actually because mine were too small. Im 6'2" with a 32 waist and i got a medium, the inseem was perfect but the length was too short. great pants though.

I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam and a 33" waist,...

I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam and a 33" waist, should I go with the L or XL?

Responded on

Depends on what kind of style you rock. I am 5"11" with a 32" waist and the large fits me exactly how I like, a little long but not too baggy. I think the inseam on the size chart is the most important measurement so get an XL. You can always wear a belt and the waist adjusters work well.
