When you ride the resort in weather conditions that scare everyone else off the mountain or you go big in Alaska’s Chugach, wear the Burton Men’s AK 3L Hover Mittens to warm those digits. The Gore-Tex fabric guarantees your hands stay dry, and the two sets of liners to choose from means you’re ready for a wet, warm blizzard or a windy, freeze-your-nipples-off-it’s-so-cold peak.

  • The shell’s ultrasonic welded seams enhance these Gore-Tex gloves’ moisture protection
  • A removable, down-insulated liner mitt has you covered on the coldest days and highest peaks
  • The removable, stretchy DryRide liner wicks and provides dexterity for impromptu booter-building sessions
  • Pre-curved fingers and a Rodeo AK leather palm on the shell ensure you can grab your tail and tweak when you launch off a massive kicker

Bottom Line: Slap cold, wet weather in the face.

True Black is not as shown

I love this mitten — I bought them for my boyfriend a few years back. Any day he's not out riding with me, I wear them. So I figured I'd get myself a pair. They're as great as always, but I should add that the photo of the True Black pair on this site is incorrect. The True Black are not solid — they are the same grid pattern as shown in Trench, but they are grey.

Do these gloves have an idiot cord (A strap that will attach the glove to you so that when you take it off it will hang off your arm and not drop on the ground)?

Just ordered these mitts, and i had the continum fuse model from a few years back. This is burton's top of the line so i assume it was just a change in model name, and i have yet to use my new hovers, but if they perform as well as the continum fuse i'll give it five stars. The fuse had no liner, but was the perfect windstopping waterproof shell mitt, and if you added your own low profile moisture wicking glover underneath, you could go through -10 degree weather with no numb fingers and perfectly warm dry hands. I'm interested to see how these new ones perform with the removable liner. I had a pair of ak oven's a while back, and i know they weren't proshell or xcr, but i found them to get too soaked after 3 or 4 hours or riding. I prefer a shell only glove that will resist the elements and i can add my own liners and layers. But i'll let you guys know how the removable liner works with and without the shell in place.

oh i forgot to add, my continuum fuse mitts only had one problem, the clinches on the gauntlets were always coming undone and they would get lost, but the good customer care at burton remedied the problem seamlessly.

Is the AK 3L Hover Mitt a similar fit/contour and size as the Burton Gore Tex GTX 3 in 1 Mitt?

I tried on the Burton Gore Tex GTX 3 in 1 Mitt today and loved it, but I will probably purchase the upgraded AK 3L Hover Mitt if the fit/contour and size are the same?

Thanks!

I have a hell of a hard time keeping my hands warm hunting and ice fishing.Thought I would splurge out of my income tax and get a good pair of gloves,DAMN GLAD I DID!!!! Even just the 2nd liners kept my hands warm,it was about 20F out and a bit windy.Usually my hands would have froze and I would have gone home.Awsome gloves!!!!!!

I really want just a shell. 3 key criteria: waterproof/windproof; "leash" for the wrist (so I don't have to keep track of it if I take it off to fiddle with something); and if possible a solid palm material that won't get cut by the edge of my board when carrying it (the demise of 2 prior shells). any recommendations?

This would work, as its very durable!!! and has a lifetime warranty from defects!

However, most higher end gloves are going to come with a fully insulated, or removable insulated piece in side them.

You can also check out the Gore Mitt:

Not Competitive

First of all, they fit small. If you order, get the next size up.If you can still find them, the Air Force arctic mittens at $60.00 or less are a much better choice. They are huge, meaning you'll stay much warmer, they are completely wind proof, and they have a soft fleece uppers for wiping your nose. Hey, don't give me that funny look. That's important! Even the dumb military figured that out. (Maybe they're not so dumb.)

TOP OF THE LINE

By:

I loved em. I was a little hesitant as to what sz I should get; small fit me just right.
Just go with your regular glove fit. They come with two amazing liners. You can also wear em without the liners depending on weather. I'm in Ontario, despite the bitter cold, my hands were warm all day. Very cool. Totally recommend them.

Super Warm, Super Waterproof

By:

Only complaint is that the 2 liners are kinda hard to fit in the mitten. I usually just wear one, and they are still plently warm. Also, I have never had any trouble with wet hand even when building a jump or something like that. The Burton AK is a pretty good product line overall.
