    Thrives where other pants fail.

When the clouds start to gather and flakes start to fly, don't head to the mountain without the Burton Women's AK 2L Stratus Pant. It's armed with Gore-Tex fabric, a performance fit, and plenty of features to help you withstand winter's worst.

Guaranteed waterproof breathable two-layer Gore-Tex fabric blocks out snow, wind, and rain while allowing vapor to escape so you don't get drenched with sweat on the inside, and fully taped seams with Gore-Seam tape prevent moisture from slipping in through the cracks. Strategically-placed brushed tricot and mesh in the lining delivers warmth where you want it and breathability where you need it.

The performance-driven AK fit is articulated to comfortably allow full range of motion whether you're hiking up or shredding down, and zippered, mesh-lined inseam vents allow you to shed excess warmth when things get heated. It also has a microfleece lining at the fly and waistband to keep you comfy throughout the day. Boot gaiters with cuff-to-boot interface keep snow out of your kicks, and Ghetto Slits make your pant legs sit just right over your boots.

    Legit

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: Medium

I've been riding these pants all season and for the most part they are pretty legit. I'm 5'7" and 130, carrying the majority of my weight in my lower half. The problem I usually have with pants is that they are tight in the thighs and loose around the waist. I have these in a Medium and they've worked out great.

    Pros:
    - Gore-Tex! Huge priority for me since I'm fairly hard on gear. I've never had a problem with these staying dry.
    - Shell: The pants are a 2L shell, perfect for spring snowboarding but easy to layer underneath for cooler days too.
    - Vents: There are two vents on the internal thighs that don't have mesh (which I prefer), making them nice and breathable.
    - Elevator Cuffs: The back of the pant has an adjustable strap that is easy to pull and will lift the pant up at the bottom, lifting it off the ground. This is nice for walking in the parking lot so you don't get the bottom of your pants dirty.
-Internal Adjustability: There are velcro tabs on the interior of the pants that you can adjust to fit to your waist.

    Cons-
-Lacking Stretch: I tour a lot in the backcountry and prefer a bit of a stretch in my pants which these don't have too much of.
-Pockets: These pants only have two pockets in the front.

Ultimately, these pants are pretty rad. Built for the elements and have held up great. Give me a little more stretch and some more pocket options and they'd get 5 stars!

I have just purchased a pair of AK 2L woman's snowboarding pants. I bought both a M and L to try the fit. The M fits perfectly, like a pair of jeans really and I can bend but there is not much room. The L is quite big around the waist but slightly looser on the legs. Do the trousers get looser with wear or would you advise to go a bigger size?

    Tamsin,

It will really depend on how much you are looking to layer with the pants. Given that they are snowboard pants, a base layer would be ideal and not take too much room depending what you are using to layer. If they are already tight without a base layer, I'd suggest trying the Larger size on with the base layer to see how you like the fit. You're not going to want the pants to be too tight, OR too loose so that you can move around in them freely.
