What is the weight if a Mens large? Difference between 2L & 3L Goretex? and where manufactured?
The difference between 3L and 2L goretex is the breathability. For instance a 3l jacet is tougher and more weather-proof ( but all gore-tex jackets/pants/gloves are waterproof) And a 2L jacket is less weather-proof but more breathable.
Thumbs up. Good jacket.
This is a good warm jacket. And not too bulky for being down filled. Even the hood is down filled! The zippers feel good and tough and the "Pow Grips" in the cuffs are awesome. The zipper vents under the arms have no mesh lining to them, they're just wide open. Not sure how I feel about that. And the sizing is a little big. Most people could stand to step down a size and it should fit pretty nicely. The pockets though... You've got a left breast pocket on the outside and a left breast pocket on the inside and nothing at all on the right side. Makes no sense. Why not even it out? If you have something in both of those pockets then the front left of the jacket puffs out more than the right. Hardly a reason not to buy it but it just seemed silly to me. Overall it's a really good warm jacket that you could wear almost anywhere on any hill. It might be a few more bucks than it should be but name brands always are.
Even though this isn't an 800 fill down jacket, I think 600 works just fine. I have been in -10*F so far with this in nothing more than a long sleeve base layer underneath and was just fine. This is a simple jacket, just meant to keep you warm when it's cold, steep, and deep, and it does just that. The reason it's not 5 stars is because the material it's made from seems to tear more easily than it should. I had a quick brush with a branch through some trees that left a little rip on my sleeve. Other than that, it's been a great jacket.
Invest in a more feature filled option.
I have a great deal of Burton products in my closet, and they have been very reliable throughout the years. Especially those which are part of the AK line. That being said I was a bit disappointed with this jacket, considering that for the price it should have significantly more features.
For instance offerings by Burton's competitors in this price point tend to offer premium synthetic down fill, or an 800 fill rating. In addition to this while the 2 layer material offers the awesome waterproofing Gore-Tex is known for it also suffers from the breathability issues that are known to plague Gore products. This is something that can be compensated with synthetic insulation, however with down any build up of condensation will greatly effect the ability to keep me warm.
On the plus side it's not all bad news. The styling is excellent, on par with Burton's latest offerings. In addition to this the use of a YKK standard zipper also means reliable function and easy repairs if necessary.

I'm 5'9" 160lbs what should i get for a size?
A large should suit you fine. However if your looking for a more fitted look a medium will also work. You are right there for both sizes.
BEST jacket out!
