If your adventures require portable power in remote locations, your solution is the Brunton Solo Power 3.4. The Solo Power 3.4 can charge off of household AC, vehicle DC, USB, and Brunton's flexible solar panels, storing hours of steady current for your small electronics. While at first that may not sound very wilderness-oriented, we all know that having a charged cell phone and GPS in the backcountry can make a big difference. Not to mention a camera for recording that epic mountain bike trail, or a charged iPod that charges you up in return. *Includes a DC inverter, AC adaptor, and multiple output tips (Motorola, Nokia, Sony Ericsson)

Bottom Line: The Brunton Solo Power 3.4 is rugged, lightweight, and portable, for folks who need juice off the grid.

I see a USB port marked "out" in the images on this page; doesn't that mean it will charge a phone that charges via USB (most new phones)?

Bottom Line- A must have item.

Bottom Line- when you aren't directly charging your electronics via solar, you can store up charge for later (ie. stormy) days. A power pack is a "must have" item for expeditions, and really broadens the range of charging capabilities. In my opinion, skip the inverter model and get DC chargers (like a car charger) for all of your electronics. The DC-AC inversion uses too much precious power.

I have a new Verizon G'z one "Ravine" phone. Although the Brunton Solo 3.4 comes with many other adapters, it does not come with an adapter to charge the G'z phone. Does anyone know if there is an adapter available to charge this phone? and if so, where could I buy this adapter?
Thank you!

I got my answer from the folks at Brunton. They said the Solo is no longer being manufactured and it is not capable of charging newer phones. Best not to purchase this item and look at the Brunton Inspire, Freedom, or Restore. I returned the Solo and purchased the Restore.

I have a Verizon Droid X, and if at least on mine if you use the usb cable your phone came with, or at least go snag a usb cable for your phone from an electronics store. It charged my droid just fine earlier today.

Crucial for Techy-Expeditioning.

In the past I would buy a battery once in country for my expeditions. When I was in Pakistan, our porter wasn't informed that the battery was in his pack and it got tipped over and battery acid went everywhere. This is a much simpler, more elegant and less volatile solution to your power storage solution on expeditions or anywhere that you depend on solar to power your electronics.

Brunton keep my ipod, gps, & camera rolling on a week long trip

Did a solo 5 day trip into Salt Creek in the Needles in Canyonlands NP. I have the 6 watt solar panel and a 3.4 ppp. They both worked great. I was able to attach the solar panel to the back of my pack. So I could charge the battery during the day and still be covering ground. On my two days at SC 4 camp site. I was able to let the panel and battery charge all day. Then hook up whatever device needed some juice and charge it over night. A must have for any serious backpacker. I'm going to get some more Batteries

Hey love you're name :-), this is more of a question not a comment like it says. How long would you say it takes the 6watt solar panel to charge the 3.4amp battery? and how many "items" can you charge with the 3.4 battery?(a phone, an ipod, etc...)

The AC adapter that was included for charging the the Solo that I bought does accept 240v (it is speced for 100 volt through 240 volt). I believe that the inverter (DC to AC) included with the Solo produces 110v output only, but then you can buy an inverter in Australia that would produce 240. BTW, I have been using the Solo 15 in Australia.

Light, easy to pack, and holds a charge. Good little back up item to carry any place.
Will not charge newer phones. Make sure it will be compatible with your phone or other items you will be taking on your trip.

What type of phone do you have? I just got this and I have a droid and it charges it just fine. It doesn't come with the correct attachment but as long as you use the proper usb cable for it, it seems to work

I run my Dell Inspiron from the Solo 7.5 no problem. It will recharge the laptop battery fully about 2 and a half times.
