Rest in peace lantern mantles, we won't miss fumbling with you in the dark. The Brunton Liberty Mantleless Lantern frees you from the unenviable toil of setting up mantles. Brunton's patented platinum element and built-in reflectors let you focus the light where you need it. The Liberty uses a piezo-electric ignition system and doesn't have to be primed, preheated, or otherwise prepared, except to screw it onto a butane fuel canister. The Liberty is efficient too, good for up to six hours. *Piezo ignition at altitudes below 8,000, feet. Bring a lighter for higher altitude trips.

it puts off adequate light for the back country, ignites well and is quite compact. I don't mind using my headlamp everywhere so it's not a necessity to me. but if you prefer otherwise, i highly recommend it, as i feel the quality is high and functions well (my educated assumption after limited use).
