The Brunton Glorb refillable butane lantern is an innovative, efficient, portable camp lantern. The Glorb features a folding tri-leg base so it can stand up on uneven surfaces, a refillable butane cartridge, and easy Piezo ignition. An adjustable air intake ensures a bright, steady burn at various altitudes. A two-hour burn time allows for plenty of light by which to read or cook, and should you manage to damage your mantle, the Glorb will even work without one—the Glorb doubles as a candle lantern, too. *The lantern self-ignites at altitudes below 8,000 feet. Bring a lighter for higher-altitude trips.

Bottom Line: The Brunton Glorb lantern will light up your backcountry night.

It seems like replacement mantles are very hard to find and the mantles themselves are very delicate; has anybody tried using another mantle (like one made for a standard coleman lantern)? Thanks.

I am using a standard Coleman mantle in my Glorb right now because I have had such a hard time finding the small mantles. It requires delicate cutting of the mantle down to size and a not perfect solution after you are done. Good news, it works, but I would much rather have the correct mantle.

Cool lantern - Not as bright as stated

By:

Bottom line it is a fun little piece that looks cool and people always comment on it. That was the bump to push it from 3 stars to 4. however, performance wise it is light, simple to use, small but really not that bright. It's like you need one more level to really make it useful. It is so close to being a very solid lantern but it needs to be a bit brighter. I still use it all the time and will definitely keep it. 3.5 - 4 stars

Handy Lantern

Extremely handy little lantern, one click of the button and its lit. Great when returning to camp in the dark. Brightness not 60W, more like 25W, could do with a chain to hang it also.

you can use this to attach to canister fuel http://www.backcountry.com/outdoorgear/Brunton-Fuel-Tool/BRU0131M.html
I have found this easy to use. Took me a few attempts to get it down but I got it.

I also picked up a few small bottles of fuel that included the small needle thing to insert into the bottom. the bottles are about the size of a highlighter pen I found them at a local camping outfitter store.

You need to use a special "FuelTool" to refill this lantern. Here's more information for you:http://www.brunton.com/product.php?id=275

Thought it would be brighter

Works good, small, light-weight,good case to protect it in the pack.
Just does not put out as much light as it stated. Nowhere near the output of a 60w bulb.

I agree with you here. Not nearly as bright as I thought. Looks cool though.
