Glorb LED XB Lantern

A 1-Watt LED boosts the output of the Brunton Glorb XB Lantern and pushes the shadows even further back from your campsite. Forget mantles, candles, fuels, and hot, breakable parts that aren't tent-compatible. Simply flip the switch on this battery-powered lantern and bathe your campsite, vehicle, or tent in light. Two modes let you choose between extra bright and regular power, and an inverse conical reflector aids light dispersion.

Bottom Line: Light without flame, another hallmark of the future.

I recently spent about 2 solid hours trying to find a source for the mantles everywhere...it's like they went extinct. I know it's a great little lantern, but I ended up replacing it with this LED version because it seemed pointless to keep searching in vain.

**Update: Brunton has discontinued making them entirely.

Great for tents

This lantern is great on those rainy nights when your stuck in a tent. It's small yet puts out a good amount of light and you don't have to worry about fumes or burning your tent down. If your an ultralight backpacker you may consider it a little heavy but otherwise I have no complaints.

Great little lantern, perfect for tents

This thing is small, and fits in the palm of my enormous hand. That is misleading because I have yet, other than professional basketball players, to meet someone with larger hands. For the size though, it gives off great light, perfect for inside a large tent, or midnight runs to the loo. I did think it is a little pricey, so it lost a star. However, it is durable, which I don't think a $2 Walmart lantern can claim.

Write your comment here...We haven't had any problems with our WalMart versions. They came as a 3pack for a fraction of the price of the Glorb. I wasn't impressed with the Glorb, since it's also plastic, and the geared feet felt very poorly engineered and unreliable for a $30 light. Ours forgo the gimmicky pop out feet for a slightly flared bottom, making it stable as is. Same metal Loop on top, and nice battery carriages, so we can pop the 4 AAs out for storage, but keep them together. Great little lights.

Wal-Mart has a silver copy of this for $2. Why should rich snobs be the only ones to enjoy the outdoors?

If you're reading this, then Backcountry hasn't found it yet.
