If you tour, guide, or patrol in seriously sketchy terrain, and you’re serious about backcountry rescue operations, the Brooks-Range Mountaineering Rescue Sled Pro is an invaluable investment. The lightweight (under 1.5lbs), quick-deploying (assembles in under 2 minutes) and compact, self-contained Rescue Sled has only three parts: the two stretcher bars, and the sled itself, a foldable, durable, bright yellow PU-coated tarp. Using any pair of skis from 135cm to 205cm in length as the longitudinal supports, the Rescue Sled becomes a sturdy, towable platform for transporting an injured or unconscious victim securely out of the backcountry. It functions in varied snow and terrain far better than a simple bivy drag system, and provides greatly improved support for spinal injuries over soft sleds.
Bottom Line: A must-have for winter guides and backcountry rescue professionals.
