The trail can be a tricky place.
The unpredictability of trail running is part of what makes it fun, but it also means you need a versatile shoe that can deliver serious traction, stability, and comfort, like the Brooks Women's PureGrit 4 Trail Running Shoe. The PureGrit's rounded heel and 4mm drop help you achieve a natural, smooth running motion, and the BioMoGo DNA midsole provides lightweight and adaptive cushioning on rugged, bumpy, and uneven surfaces. It has a sticky, flexible sole inspired by climbing-shoe rubber, 3D Hex
lugs for grip, and Omega Flex Grooves for easy rolling onto the ball of
your foot. Brooks also included a Nav Band on the upper to keep your forefoot from slipping around in the shoe, and designed the PureGrit with neutral support for medium to high arches, which will keep you smiling as you put the miles behind you.

- Q & A
I eat Pure Grit for breakfast
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
From GF's perspective
I have always used Brooks Cascadia, but decided to try the grits out. It took a minute for me to get used to not having the reinforced shank, and I missed the grip tread at first.
Halfway through my maiden voyage I decided to keep going and do a 15 mile run and see how I felt.
I feel like Brooks were designed for me. I have long slender feet with a high arch. I size up usually 1.5 sizes and have minimal slippage with a runners knot. I love the room in the toe-box, not too big like other brands, but enough to feel good. I run on pretty rocky terrain and love the stability. Slipped out of dry terrain once, but otherwise grippy and trusting now that I'm accustomed to them.
Trail Running Just Got Better!
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
- Fit: True to size
- Size Bought: 9
Buy em'! Here's why:
-They are comfortable right out of the box! No wear-in period or getting use to these. I was worried about the break in time, given I went from a minimalist shoe to these (4mm) but no problems at all!
-The grip is GREAT! I feel like an animal on the trail, the shoes glide over big rocks, dirt, mud, roots, grass, you name it, they conquer it. Also enough padding on the sole that the big rocks don't hurt but huge plau that the cushion doesn't add extra weight. (Warning: these are made for the outdoors, the rad grips are slippery on tile and wood floors)
-Fit is perfect! They feel like an extension of my own feet. I'll be honest, I wasn't sold on the Nav Band idea, seemed like a scam, but its AMAZING! I was unaware, until these shoes, how much my mid-sole moved around. Now, with the Nav Band I can really focus on shaving off those minutes without any worries!
-They're nice on the eyes as well!
These were my first pair of Brooks and I'm totally converted!
