    Lightweight trail power.

Brooks took some cues from rock-climbing shoes when it made the PureGrit 3 Men's Running Shoe, but don't worry, things didn't get too crazy. The rock-inspired changes are primarily in the sole, which uses a soft and sticky rubber for excellent flexibility and grip, along with 3D Hex lugs for traction and Omega Flex Grooves for easy forefoot roll. Brooks' BioMoGo DNA midsole provides comfortable lightweight cushioning on rough trails, while the 4mm drop and rounded heel promotes a natural stride, and the Nav band keeps your foot from slopping around when the going gets tricky. Perfect for runners with medium to high arches, the Puregrit is a lightweight trail machine that will help you put the miles behind you.

    Good Stuff

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 11

This shoe is pretty nice. It fits well and is comfortable. The terrain where I'm at can be rocky in places. With normal running shoes and sandals especially, you feel every rock. Not with these shoes though.

    Awesome Shoe!

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: Runs small
    • Size Bought: 12

Run a little narrow and have started to wear out a little faster than I would like but the fit is great and are great for long days on my feet.

    Poor Upper Design

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 11.5

This is a nice nimble and comfortable trail show that performs well on dry trails. It does not grip at all on wet wood (roots or bridges) or snowy surfaces. Also the honeycomb pattern of the upper created a failure point of the fabric to the point where there are holes wearing through after only 10 runs and 84 total miles..Poorly made and poorly named.

    Poor Upper Design

    A Big Ol' Thumbs Up

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 9.5

I had a pair of PureGrits in the past and loved them to death. I was without running shoes for a while as a spent more time on two wheels, but was stoked to pick a pair back up to run Discrete's Peak Series at Snowbird. I wear a 9.5 typically and the 9.5 fit perfectly.

    Pros:

-Lugged soles are solid on the trail, no doubt on amount of traction. Most of what was run on in the few times previous have been loose rock, fireroads, and dusty singletrack.

    -Lightweight

-The Peak Series race was my second time running in them and I felt no rub or hot spots after ~9miles & a fair amount of elevation gain.

    Cons:

    - Claimed Rock Shield could be more effective, definitely felt some rocks on the heel.

-Not positive of how the long term durability will be with these - previous pair had blown laces & lace holes and the side of these seem like they were a bit roughed up, though it was race speed through some pretty loose rock. I'll comment back with more use on them.

If you're looking for a pair of trail shoes that'll take on some burly alpine singletrack, these will be great for you.

Great shoe in the Brooks Pure line

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
    • Fit: True to size

I have been running in the Brooks Pureflows for several years now. When I started looking for trail shoes the Puregrit was a clear no brainer. It has the durability to hold up against the rugged mountain trails we have here in the Wasatch, while still maintaining the lightweight and flexible characteristics of the Pureflow that I love.

    Happy Feet

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times
    • Fit: True to size
    • Size Bought: 10

The new model has preformed right out of the box in multiple races on snow where the hex lugs provided ample traction. Upper is improved and holds foot in place much better than my previous pair of Grits.

    Perfect for conditions

I used my new puregrit running shoes in a 10K trail race on Jan 1. It was perfect for the conditions, where light weight with good footing was necessary. The fit is very good and it handled the cold weather fine. I like these a lot.
