Description

We have reached the summit with warm feet. Nice.

Your nerves may be shot, but at least your feet will be comfortable while you're hiking through avalanche-prone couloirs wearing the Bridgedale Summit Socks. Bridgedale made these extreme series heavyweight socks for active use in very cold weather. Gore recommends you wear the Summit Socks with their Gore-Tex boots since the socks aid in the ventilation process of their waterproof/breathable footwear. The Summit Sock's blend of New Wool and Isolfil keep your feet warm and wick away moisture so your feet stay dry. Bridgedale has tested and rated the Summit Socks down to -25C.

My Favorite Ski Touring Sock

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I like a nice thick sock for backcountry skiing, and the Summit perfectly fits that bill. It is high enough to work well with a ski boot, without being so high that it clamps down on your calves. Super warm, thick and comfy, and they last so long they are almost a "heritage sock" if such a thing exists. You'll get years out of them.

I always rummage through my sock drawer for the Summits, and if I'm out, it means it's time to do a load of laundry.

Warm!

These are great and have held up for many years. They are a bit heavy for my taste, but they get the job done.

Amazing

I've had 5 pairs of Bridgedales for the last 7 yrs..... I've worn them practically non-stop.... and I can't seem to wear them out. The beat the pants off of their competition .... I'll never buy another pair of smart socks...... they not nearly as well designed for wear. I'm happy to pay the price if the product is worth it, and Bridgedale is simple the best socks EVER !

Went for hike testing summit sock and got blistered on the little toe.

I can't understand why manufacturers can't put the seam on the outside of socks! I end up turning them inside out and miss out on all the coziness that the insides of socks usually have.
This drives me crazy.

This little piggy couldnt run...

Extra hot and humid day in Australia so was an interesting test of the summits wicking properties in which it did well. (In training for Everest in which it will be used). However, the stitching across the toes was rough and rubbed my little toe enough for it to blister. So interestingly no rubbing caused by sweat just the stitching instead. Mankind (And Womenkind)should invent socks without stitching above the toes...

I am looking for a nice warm sock for work; outdoors during the winter with cold temps in 30's and 40's. Often times I am sitting or standing with little movement for extended periods of time, usually hours. My current sock is smart wool midweight PHD but they don't keep my feet warm enough. How will these work, or is there something else I should consider?

So comfy...

I was looking for a heavier weight sock for late fall/early winter hikes and this sock has proved to be the best choice I could have made. Fits tight in all the right places and stays up for hour - no yanking them up!

The right amount on insulation for those Southern Tier days when it's cold but not too cold. Highly recommended.

Keeps me warm

I use these socks with Sportiva Glacier boots and smart wool liner socks while hiking Colorado 14ers in April - they kept my feet warm - what more can you ask for?

Sock of Choice for Backcountry Skiing

I started using Bridgedale socks about ten years ago and still own my first pair. They are well made (understatement), comfortable, hold their shape, warm and snug without being too tight. I like warm feet for backcountry skiing, so I wear a thick sock like this and mold my liners a bit loose.

The computerized weaving on these socks is amazing as it puts the warmth and padding where you need it, and keeps them trim where you don't.

There are probably other good socks out there, but Bridgedales are amazing, so I keep going back to them.

These are too hot

Very well made.

But unless you are going to sit outside and go fishing in near freezing temps, there is no need. These are for mountaineering.

Walking around in DC (where I live) this Jan/december in 20/30's with suede shoes made my feet sweat.

Good Stuff!!!!!

Great pair of socks......Now, this may not be an important issue when it comes to preping for a hard day in the field or on the trail, But I assure you at the end of the day your 'Dogs' will thank you. These socks are made of quality wool, and aren't too tight across the bridge. Comfort all day wet or dry. The only thing I have against them is the price. They're a bit too high.

Awsome Socks

I previously owned Bridgedale socks which lasted me 8 years and still are going strong.......I always purchase the same ones (design) so I can loose a sock or two and still mix pairs and they all match. I just purchased this week 7 pairs of these socks and would like more. Come on guys stock some more of these socks!. They wear exceptionally well, are very comfortable and hold up for years even under daily use. These socks are the best investment. Thanks for stocking this brand. Bridgedale is the only way to go in my view and Backcountry is very good reputable place that ships quickly and accurately what you order. Many thanks to all of you!
