Peregrine's The Colorado 14ers helps guide you through driving directions, parking, estimated round-trip times, and difficulty ratings so you can choose to tackle one or all fifty-four of Colorado's 14,000ft peaks. The authors organized The Colorado 14ers by mountain range so it's easy to find a close alternative if the peak you're looking at requires more hiking time or an overnight that you're not ready for. This book shows the most popular and approved route up each 14er and gives current info on access to the mountains.

Bottom Line: Know before you go higher.

We'd like to know which 14ner nearest to Colorado Springs

We'd like to know which 14ner nearest to Colorado Springs is one with an easier trail? We've heard that Pike's Peak is a long, arduous trail. We'd like one we can hike up and down in a long morning. Thanks for your help.

Pike's Peak is the only fourteener in close proximity of Colorado Springs. It's shortest approach from the Crag's Campground is 4,100' elevation gain in 14 miles round trip. All the others are long day hikes but can be done, round trip in twelve plus hours. Consider the challenging Crestone's, Humboldt, or Long's Peak in RMNP. Also Antero, Princeton, Shavano, & Tabeguache can be day hiked from CS but all involve elevation gains of more than 4,500' in 10 miles. One more consideration is the Lincoln, Democrat, & Bross loop. These three can all be climbed out of Colorado Springs in eight hours round trip by an acclimated party in good climbing/hiking condition.
