    Get creative.

Tired of fumbling in the dark with tarps and tents when you don't make it to the campsite before sunset? Reach for the Blue Water Niteline Reflective Cord, which comes with a three millimeter diameter and in a 50-foot length. The cord's nylon strands feature a solution-dyed polyester sheath to reflect light at night. Feel free to use it to mark trail, set up camp, or have a glow stick fight in the woods.

    Highly visible, slightly saggy

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use reflective cord exclusively for tent tie-downs, tarps, and guylines as well as for many other accessory cords. I find the blue more visible in daylight than some of the red/orange colors, particularly against dirt, desert, and pine-duff backgrounds (which is most of my camping.) The Blue Water reflective stuff works as stated at night, particularly if a flashlight hits it.

I pitched two tents with side-by-side on a humid overnight, one with the Blue Water Nitline and one with a similar reflective cord. In this highly unscientific test, I found this particular cord sagged more over time and required more re-tightening than the other. That said, both sagged, neither was unreasonable, and this behavior seems worse when the cord is new or when it is very humid.

Like most cords with reflective strands, this is somewhat stiff to handle and tie, and the reflective threads act like saw teeth if allowed to slide back and forth repeatedly in tape-loop tie-outs. Blue water's offering is perhaps a slightly stiffer and sawy-ier than others, but the blue color offers better visibility, and so for the ways I use it, an overall good product.

    Great Hammock Tarp Cord!

BlueWater Accessory Cord (NiteLine) is great for tarps/rain flys. It is a static line, unlike paracord which has stretch in it. I use BlueWater Accessory Cord (NiteLine) for almost anything and it always outperforms even the cutting edge stuff like Dyneema, etc.

    Great Accessory Cord

The blue is nice and bright with good visibility. The niteline reflective strands do work, but it is a bit inconsistent. Works best in odd lighting conditions. Not as good as if they used a 3M reflective product in construction. I use it for all kinds of accessory tie downs. I prefer the blue over neon orange or some other awful standout color. I'm not a construction worker...
