This is my workhorse rope. I use it for everything. Ice climbing, crags, trad, sport, gym. Everyone I climb with always comments on what a great rope it is. It clips well and has a great supple feel. It will get wet on really wet ice climbs, but most of the time it sheds water really well.

Bought this for TR'ing at Ouray. The DoubleDry works as advertised. I dropped this into a semi-frozen creek at the bottom of the gorge and had no issues with freezing or water soaking into the rope. For a 9.7, its very supple and runs through belay devices smoothly. I'm a convert, I'll buy Blue Water ropes from here on out.

For over a year I have been beating on this rope and it shows no signs of wearing out. From marathon sport climbing days to sharp rocks and edges in the alpine this has been my go-to cord for all my climbing endeavors. The rope has excellent handling and over time it retains its "out of the box" feel. It feeds very well through many different belay devices (ATC, Gri Gri, Cinch) and the sheath has a way of keeping dirt and debris from collecting. I will continue to use the Lightning throughout next season and I predict it has at least another full season of use left in it if not more.

Fore reference, I usually wear out other brand's ropes in about 6-8 months.

I love this rope and its handling both indoors and out. The color (bi-color) is great. and more importantly the rope handles falls very well but does stretch A LOT. The rope handles like a dream with an ATC or a gri-gri and is very easy to clip even at the top of a 90ft lead!
Te only reason I gave it four stars is that the sheath is wearing a little too fast for my liking. I have been extremely careful with it on my two outdoor excursions. I have however taken many huge whippers on it indoors. Also I've never used a rope this thin before so that might be why it seams to be fraying quickly to me. Love the Blue water ropes so I opted to go up to a 9.9 instead.

This Lightning is the perfect Balance between performance, weight and durability, and you will be amazed how long this rope lasts. I was. These ropes are lighter than the competitors for their diameter while being more durable and softer catching. Maybe it's because they have the best quality control in the industry and make all their ropes right here in America!
