With enough girth and rocker to float in the good stuff and a sidecut that’s designed to zip through the park or the trees, Blizzard’s The One IQ Max Ski with Slider Plate lives up to its namesake. The One dishes out an equally outstanding performance all over the mountain thanks to its quick turn radius, sidecut, and all around beefiness. And the added slider plate lets you switch between different bindings and stance configurations to dial in the perfect ride to fit the conditions.
IQ Max Slider permits 7cm of adjustability for different binder positioning and acts as an interface between the ski and any binding you wish to attach that day—be it alpine, AT, or telemark
Your binding attaches to the slider and locks easily into place—extra sliders sold separately
A 59mm wide channel in the binding zone (where the slider locks into place) allows quick power transfer to the edges, which means it skis like a skinny ski
The reverse camber Utility Rocker features a raised tip and tail so you can skim across the surface of the deep snow
The IQ-Max Sandwich Compound Sidewall construction utilizes World Cup racing technology which creates a fast, easy-to-turn ski with excellent edge grip
Carbon wood core keeps the weight down and provides forgiving flex without flopping around in the crud
Twintip design permits switch landings off massive backcountry booters
What size are your other skis? Personally I think the skis tend to ski a little shorter than their length due to the rocker, mounting position, and flex. They are relatively light and soft skis that are very maneuverable when you want them to be but when put on edge and used at high speeds they tend to still have a lot of stability. I would go with the 163.
I entered the demo tent ready to demo the Volkl Mantra and Line Prophet 100. I exitted with 177's of the Blizzard 'THE ONE' after being talked into the ski. Every tester under the tent said this ski was the best for softer snow and all mountain. I could not agree more after riding for the day. I purchased the 177's on the spot. i would highly recommend this ski to anyone looking to bust crud, crush powder, carve groomed and feel very stable doing all 3 in one run. the more aggressively skied, the better the ski reacts and I can't believe this ski doesn't get more press.

I completely agree Monologuist. I stumbled upon "The One" at the on snow demo at WP while waiting for another ski to arrive. The conditions pretty much sucked but I had my fav tree stash with some freshies which shot me out on a firm bump run and then to an icy groomer. Can I say these skis killed it. I wasn't going to be a ski whore so I only took one run and returned the skis. I did feel these were the best skis between 95 and 105 underfoot out of the other 10 I tested that day so much, I bought them. They finally arrived last week and got on them for the first time. What a great decision. On groomers they laid down ruts and turned like a SL ski but then in soft snow they skied longer. The snow was soft and untracked in the morning and what a dream to ski on. By afternoon it was all chopped up but they mowed straight through. Trees and bumps....fun
I am 190lbs and bought the 177's since I ski in CO and there are not a lot of big lines. I also have 115cm underfoot skis in an 188 length. If I were buying these for JH or Snowbird I would go one size up.
Blizzard IQ Max Slider works and you can read about it in other reviews so I won't go into much detail.
I usually don't give a lot of reviews but these skis deserves props. Blizzard isn't the most well known brand in the US but these skis are going to change that. If your on the fence for an all mountain ski; JUMP!
What's the feeling on length for this one, for someone 5'10, 165, that skis on the fast side, West Coast (MAmmoth) home mountain, for a "middle ski" of a 3 ski quiver? I've got Head Monster/Peak 78 171 cm. for harder conditions/frontside, and I've got 185cm. Dynastar Huge Trouble/Sixthe Sense Huge for deep days. I'd normally ski something around 177cm. for my "middle ski", but that is if it was a conventional design. I hear the 177cm. of The One only has running length of around 140-145cm, which is akin to a conventional 170ish cm. midfat...Would the 184 maybe be the better choice for this application? For what it's worth, Blizzard's length chart recommends the 184cm. version for 165+ lbs., but these types of charts can tend to be pretty conservative.
I would go 184... The skis are really quite soft and they do have a small amount of early rise in the tip and tail which makes them really nimble and playful. The crazy thing about them is that they don't ski like a soft ski with early rise on hard groomers. The fact that there isn't a ton of rocker really helps you engage the whole sidecut/length when you lay them up on edge on firmer snow. They have a ton of torsional stiffness which gives them that performance on groomers but they're longitudinally soft for more playful/versatile performance in soft stuff. These skis have to be skied. They're gaining quite a bit of buzz in the areas where you can find them..
I got a chance to ski these skis last spring and was totally blown away. I was at a demo and was waiting at the Rossi tent to try the new S3 which someone had taken for way to long. The Blizzard tent was parked right next to Rossi and I had heard good things about the Answer so I asked if they had anything similar to the Answer but narrower. The guy at the tent grabbed a pair of The Ones in a 177 and handed them to me. I thought they were going to be to short for me but they guy convinced me to take them for a spin and I'm so glad I did! I didn't have high expectations at first because the skis were sooo soft when I flexed them. It was a spring day so most of the snow was pretty hard except for some north facing aspects. The One felt so stable on the hard snow and had crazy good edge hold. It felt like it was 80mm under foot on the hardpack but when I did manage to find some soft stuff it was so easy to ski because of the slight rocker and soft profile. "Fun" was the best word to describe it, I had a smile on my face at the end of every run. It blew the doors of the S3 when I finally did get around to trying it. The S3 flopped like a dead fish on the hard snow and was equally as unpredictable in the limited soft snow. I love my S7s but when there's not a foot of fresh I'm going to be on The Ones for sure!
