Great haul bag
These haul bag is really good and the material is great but if you want a very durable one il go with a metolius
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
great product, it is really really big; more than what i expected, but works great even though it is not filled to the top. if you plan of using it with onother porpuse that big wall (crag pack, traveling, backpacking) you should get a smaller one.
other than that, great haulbag

what is the belay seat like that comes with it?
its a seat made of the same material from the haul bag. comes really in handy if you have a lot ofoverhanging belays.
really light and easy to set up.
Zion bag sucks. I promise you will rip a hole in it on your first big wall. Metolius is way better

How comfortable are the shoulder straps/hip belt on long approaches? How do the Metolius haul bags compare in the same regard?
I have not used the Metolius,so I cannot give you a comparison, but I can say that the BD Zion is super comfortable to carry, even on multi hour approaches.

Hi, Do airlines accept this haul as a check-in item (obviously not carry on) or is it too big to go into the luggage.
Maximum weight is 50 pounds and maximum size is 62 inches (length + width + height) per checked piece of luggage. The BD Zion Haul is 15.8 x 17.7 x 39.4 in
Good but not the Best
I am a huge fan of black diamond. love the stuff they make. But in my experience the crown goes to Metolious when it comes to haul bags. I have a black diamond haul bag and have used it on several walls in Yosemite. After the secon wall it already had some holes in it. In contrast, my climbing partner ran the metolious bag. His had several more walls and still didnt show as much wear as mine did. Something about the material i guess, just makes the metolious last longer.
Still, I love my BD haulbag - its still tough - just has larger duct tape patches now.
Just the right size. Tough, carries well, and is relatively cheap. Makes for a good personal bag on a wall or a large crag pack.
Black Diamond Haul Bag
When I was looking for a big haul bag, with good friction resistance BD was the right choice. Carry heavy loads of big wall material, everything you could need and more! :)
Very nice choice! Lasts forever!

whats a nicer pack, zion or the half dome from Metolius?
That is truly a matter of opinion. The Zion is bigger at the expense of 1lb 1oz if weight is a real concern to you. But the Zion is also $45 cheaper. I like Metolius, but I like Black Diamond more. That is only my opinion. But the belay seat sells it for me. Go BDBTW you called it a pack, and there are much better backpacks out there. This is mainly a haul bag with the convenience of straps.
Great Haul Bag !! I love it, is so big !!
