When the temps are down and the ice is in, pull on the Black Diamond Xenos Harness and head for the nearest mixed cave or frozen flow. Thanks to Black Diamond’s Kinetic Core Construction that evenly distributes weight along the harness, the Xenos provides all day comfort without excess bulk and padding. Six ice clipper slots and four molded gear loops neatly organize all your screws and draws, while the pre-threaded Speed Adjust buckles on the waist and legs accommodate varying layers.

Bottom Line: The premier harness for winter cranking.

Can you use Petzl caritool clippers with this harness? I've got a Petzl harness which I really like but I'm looking for an ice climbing harness with adjustable leg loops. Thanks.

Hi--Question about this harness. The ice clipper slots are positioned

Hi--Question about this harness. The ice clipper slots are positioned directly over the sides of the gear loops. Does that work? Can you load an ice clipper, and also the gear loops? Any interference between the two? the additional picture above shoes an ice clipper in the slot, high on the harness, with one of the elastic bands keeping it in place. Is that the solution? It just strikes me that if there was some space between the gear loops and the ice clipper clots everything would be easier. Comments?

It does work, so long as you don't over load the ice clipper and the gear loops. I've found that you generally have a bit less on the harness when you're ice climbing, but you can end up with more as you move into mixed climbing. You should be just fine using the ice clipper for screws while still using the loops for draws, and other things attached to carabiners - so no interference there. As for the elastic bands keeping them in place, yes, that is the solution, and it does work pretty well.

Comfy and Adjustable

Have had this harness for about two months now. I climb at least three times a week and am more than happy. Picked it up directly from the black diamond outlet in SLC, UT, and was told it is the same cut as the BD Chaos, only difference is adjustable leg straps. Can't wait to use if for ice climbing this winter! Would recommend this harness to anyone looking for an amazing adjustable harness.

Undecided between this harness and the Arc'teryx X350a All-Around

Undecided between this harness and the Arc'teryx X350a All-Around Climbing Harness. I am looking for a comfortable all-around climbing harness. I have tried both of them on and they both seem to be very comfortable. I just can't seem to make up my mind. Any advice?

Well, I have had an Arc Teryx one for a bit now, got it in March, and it is ready for the trash...granted I have worn it about 100 days since March, as I am a full time climber and guide, but I loved it. So comfy and packs smaller than the BD's...BUT I think the BD's are a bit more durable as my wife has had one the same amount of time and it is still good to go.

Review Title

This harness is great! I've had this the last few weeks and it is great for sport and trad. Will be using it in a couple months for ice, but i am sure it will perform flawlessly. It is incredibly comfortable and comes with an ice clipper! The clipper slots are positioned great, gear loops are perfect, and the adjustable buckles allowed me to move from my Petzl over to BD. I do wish the waist had double buckles, but my waist size has the belay loop centered anyway. Highly suggest this for any climber.

Not in the description, but 1 Ice Clipper IS included!
