Black Diamond created the kid-specific Wiz Headlamp to give young campers and backpackers the features they need to get the most from the outdoors. This Black Diamond LED headlamp provides a long 60-hour burn time, and it turns off after an hour, so it won't go dead if the little one leaves it on accidentally. The Wiz Headlamp also has a slightly dimmed light, so your kid can still see well but won't blind you by shining light in your eyes.
Bottom Line: Silly camper, The Black Diamond Wiz Headlamp is for kids.
Great light, I bought it for my son who is 2 years old. He Loves to put mine (the adult version) on and wear it around the house at night. He wears it all the time and has a ball with it. Im sure he will get more practical use for it in the years to come. Great Product Black Diamond keep the quality coming.
Bought these for 7 kids for Christmas. They were a huge hit, fit everyone from age 2 to me (adult). Bright, but not blinding, easy for a kid to use. The headlamps were used all day to explore every corner of a big house, but have yet to be tested for camping. 5 of the kids are anxious for warm weather to use them outside at night or for camping. Would be nice to have other color options.
I know it's for kids, but the fuschia color matches my ski outfit perfectly! :)Anyone know the size of the "one size" and if it will stretch to fit a normal adult head? Thanks!!
I bought one for myself (an adult). I have a 7 1/4 hat size and the light fits very comfortably. In fact, there is enough extra length in the adjustable headband for me to let it out another 4 inches! I just measured: the smallest the stretchable headband will adjust is 15 1/2 inches; the largest is 25 1/2 inches (in the unstretched position). So, it will fit virtually any head.
Several review below from December 29, 2008 and December 12, 2008 said that it fit their adult head and that they didn't necessarily know it was for kids. I don't have any personal experience with this particular headlamp, but I can't imagine the band being too small for you.

Batteries lasted more than 60 hours on the first set but the second set lasted less than 60. I think that was the batteries more than the headlamp. To be honest, I was not excited about wearing a light on my head - I just didn't think it would work. But, I love having my hands free and I never have to look for a light! I also like that the light turns off after an hour.
I have been using this head lamp for a couple of years. I bought it in a hurry and I guess didn't read the packaging well enough. I just saw today that it is for kids. Its been plenty bright for me and the battery life is great.
I got this not for outdoor activity, but to use while doing projects around the house. I wish that I had thought of the concept years ago! I use this light at least a few times a week for all sorts of applications where I ordinarily would need a flashlight or other external lighting such as a halogen lamp. Through use of the headlamp, both of my hands are free to work, and I'm never in the way of the lighting source which would create shadows in my work area. The headlamp tilts to get optimum placement of the beam and is comfortable to wear. Some examples or how I've used this: working on wiring behind my TV, looking in the back of cupboards for something, tuning up my bike, replacing wall outlets, etc. This is optimal for virtually any application where the lighting is not ideal and you don't want to encumber your hands with a flashlight - think of all the times that happens!I would rate this as a MUST HAVE for any toolbox or household! Also note that the headband is adjustable to virtually any head size. It's definitely not just for kids as some may have been lead to believe. And, if you're style conscious, the headband is black on one side and can be worn with that side facing out (come to think of it, that's how it came).
My seven-year-old daughter has this lamp and loves it. Its somewhat dimmer light is perfect for kids and lets them see around camp, in the tent or even walking at night. It isn't bright enough to let them bother other folks' camps, either, and it won't blind adults for too long if the kid slips up and shines it in your eyes.
It's durable, lasts a good, long time on fresh batteries and makes the kid feel like part of the group. It's an OUTSTANDING product for $18...bravo Black Diamond!
A headlamp has become a esential piece for any backpacking trip. This one is still going strong after many nights on the trail with alot of use. The head band strap is nice and stays adjusted with out any need to refit. My only gripe is that it will seperate from the strap when not in use. It is easy to attach but can be anoyng when it slips off while trying to put one. But in the end it has really worked well. Very bright and long lasting.
I bought these headlamps for my kids for a family reunion camping long weekend and they worked great. They were just the right weight that they didn't fall down on the kids' foreheads like some adult models. Also the multiple settings made them so cool that now all the cousins want them too. Gear envy, got to love it!
