Your headlamp only shines straight ahead but the Voyager shines everywhere.

Sometimes it's nice to have 360 degrees of soft light from a light source like the Black Diamond Voyager Lantern. You can set this battery-powered lantern on the table, hang it from the roof of your tent, or convert it into a handheld flashlight. Powerful LED bulbs provide up to 75 lumens of light, enough to help you prepare dinner or enjoy a book without putting on your headlamp.

  • One DoublePower LED bulb provides 75 lumens of light at its max setting in lantern mode
  • One DoublePower LED bulb in the base provides 50 lumens of light from the bottom to provide a precise beam in flashlight mode
  • Change between lantern, flashlight, and dual (flashlight and lantern modes) with the flip of a single switch
  • Internal dual reflector system captures and maximizes light output in lantern mode
  • Collapsible double-hook hanging loop flips up from the top so you can hang this lantern inside your tent

Great all purpose light

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Before buying the Voyager, I had bought the Titan. To be honest, I wasn't that thrilled given the size and reported output. I decided I would return it. I saw this new model listed and given the flashlight mode that eliminates the dark spot, I'd give this one a try (at a lower cost). I tested it vs. the Orbit and Titan, and I can tell this will be my favorite. Even without the lower light on, the under dark spot is rather minimal.

If there is one tiny flaw, it's the tolerance on the sliding plastic (and this is being really nitpicky). The globe isn't as tight around the body as the Orbit and Titan.

When you take it out of the box you'll play with it (of course w/o reading the instructions) and think the button patterns don't make sense. Then you get used to it and then it becomes clear.

Great Versatility

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The ability to choose between using it as a torch or lantern provide an edge over the rest of Black Diamond Lantern series.

It power saving feature allows the battery to last longer than lantern of other make. I like its small size and light weight with ruggedized anti-slip rubber base. As such, I bought two more.

However, one of my voyager torch's Led seem to burn out recently leaving me only with lantern function. A bit disappointed in the quality since I have only used it about 3 times but using the lantern function most of the time. As such, am not giving it a full star rating.

nice addition!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a sweet little light. I love the size, dim settings, and I can use my solar powered AA batteries. We used them in our dome tent in Alaska and it was nice to have light from a source that was not on your forehead.

nice addition!

Light and Bright

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Takes up very little space, is super light, and provides a lot of light . . . in fact more than my friend's lantern that is twice the size!

nice light

This is a great light. The dimmer is really nice. Feels solid and very well made. It says it isn't water proof but it survived being peed on by my 3 year old, really. Ken

Great little lantern

This is a great little lantern for backpacking. It is small and compact and very light. The integrated flashlight is nice for grabbing quickly at night if you can't find your head light. It is very bright and I love BD's brightness control.
