Great set of gloves

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: True to size

I was looking for a good pair of gloves to upgrade from my decent North Face pair, mainly for skiing. I just happened to be going on a trip to Montana for some exploring and adventuring. They exceeded my expectations for comfort and warmth. Compared to my North Face gloves they were a worlds of difference. The primaloft kept my hands very warm in the semi cool conditions. I was able to use them for a day of snowmobiling with no discomfort at all. Stopping for pictures and everything was easy for removing the glove and replacing it back on. The gauntlet release is very simple to use and works pretty well. The one downside I have with these gloves is the lack of a wrist strap. My pair of North Face gloves have a wrist strap so when I take them off they can just hang from my wrist without the risk of falling. There appears to be an area that would accept a wrist strap from a company or homemade one but I would of expected on already on the glove upon purchase.

Overall, the glove is great and fit perfectly.

Holding on to these gloves

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I got these gloves as a christmas gift, from my mother-in-law, and she told me when I opened them, "You better not lose one of them. I'm always loosing gloves"! I told her, in reply, "These are not the kind of gloves you loose". This is very true. I love these gloves. I find them very warm. Not as warm as the BD Guide glove, but I find that I have better dexterity with these gloves. I also like that the liner is fixed. There is no worse feeling then trying to put on a glove where the pinky finger liner had been pulled inside-out from a previous removal. These gloves are well made, I mean well made. Like I can see myself having these gloves for the rest of my life and passing them onto a beloved grandson on my death-bed.

Definitely not warm

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small

I purchased these gloves to work with mostly, tried them 5 different time in temperature ranging anywhere from 30 to 15 deg. ,they are not warm, I know leather is not the greatest insulator, but these gloves are cold. They do run small. To be fair , they are very well built, they look very nice.

Not warm at all

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

Gloves look great and feel great on but I have a $20 pair of crap gloves that keep my hands warmer than these. I bought them because their rated for up to 5 below zero and when I walk my dog for about 20 minutes in 15-20 degree weather my hands get ice cold. Not sure if I got a bum pair after reading the other reviews but the pair I got sucks and after taking into account what they cost it's inexcusable. After reaching out to Black Diamond's Customer service I have to say I'll never buy another product from them again.

Great Dad Gift

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
  • Fit: True to size

My dad skis at least 5 days a week and is still charging so for christmas I bought him these gloves and he has been really happy with them. They aren't overly bulky and still provide plenty of warmth.

Not bad, but didn't blow me away.

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs small

First off, the sizing on these is WAY off. I usually wear a small and I literally could not get my hand even into the size small of these. It's like it's made for a kids hand. The medium fits better, but then I have a lot of slop in the fingers with not much dexterity.

These are pretty warm and super durable, but lack the craftsmanship that Hestra or Arcteryx gloves have. Not sure if they're worth the full price as I think you could find a cheaper glove that has the same warmth and durability.

Amazing Glove

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this glove a couple months ago and love it. The quality is great. It fits tight enough that you feel like you actually have fingers, but lose enough to keep you warm. I would recommend this glove to anyone.

Awesome Glove

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Last week I invested in a pair of Black Diamond Virago Gloves and have been putting them to the test since. With the Gore Tex XCR insert, drawcord, and the 142g of Primaloft, my hands were warm and dry all day long. I recommend this glove to anyone that is planning on spending long days in the backcountry.
