The Black Diamond Viper Android Leash is a progressive leash designed specifically for your Viper ice tools (BLD0281, BLD0282). Leashes might be a limiting factor in performance ice climbing. To appease the new school, Black Diamond designed the Viper Android, a comfortable, supportive, and easily detachable leash for Viper tools. This leash connects directly to your tool with a secure bolt & stud system and a quick release mechanism that sets your hands free in seconds flat. Tightly woven nylon webbing adds water resistance and durability. **ICE TOOL NOT INCLUDED.

Great for ice, bad for alpine

These leashes are great for ice climbing, they are easy to use and hold your hand firmly to your tools on steep ice. If you plan to do any alpine climbing, either get the standard Android Leash or the Lockdown leash as these do not allow you to let go and grab the head of your tools.

Consider getting the android leash if you lead a bunch or go somewhere you do a bunch of short climbs and aren't sharing your tools (like Ouray). They are convenient, but pricey. Picked my second one up on sale for around $27.
