Unanswered Question

Can anybody comment to the durability of these poles? I had a pair of the Distance Z-poles in the past and I wasn't impressed because they flexed a lot relative to other aluminum poles, but these ones seem slightly burlier. Anybody have any issues with the poles flexing under load?

Great all purpose poles

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought these a about a year ago, because they seemed to have the best mix of features. The z-pole and flick-lock combo is great. It makes deployment super fast, and gives you adjustability for variable conditions. I use them for everything, from hiking to snowshoeing and skiing. I really appreciate the z-pole over traditional sliding extensions, because they are much more forgiving to abuse. I am pretty rough on my poles and I've managed to put a nice bend into the lower aluminium shaft, because of the z-pole, they continue to work flawlessly. If I could have only one pole this would be it.

so would you say that the lack of ability to switch to a snow basket to not be a problem in the snow?

thanks in advance!

Really nice advanced pole

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Haven't really had a chance to use them yet in the winter months but really like them so far. Super lightweight, compact when folded and comfortable grips. I bought my wife some cheaper poles and can definitely see why one would want a pole like this for longer, higher, more adv. hikes. It took some adjusting to get the pole tension right for folding and extending but was relatively easy and the directions were easy to understand. One pole was too tight out of the box.

Great do it all pole.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I use these for splitboarding and backpacking. The poles are light and fold up super easy. The interchangeable baskets are great as well. I got these because I wanted to be able to stow the poles when i wasn't using them, inside a smaller pack. I've used these in extreme conditions and they hold up great.

Solid all-around

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These poles have been a go-to for me on the trails in the Alps for several seasons, and haven't ever disappointed. The collapsability and size for transport and packing is great, while they still extend to the appropriate length (just make sure you check your measurements and get the right size poles for you. Treat them right, and they'll take care of you on all terrains.

Necessary for me

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I have some not so good knee tendons and when it comes to hiking and I can't do anything above 6-8 miles without feeling like there is a arrow in my knee. . *cough* Anyway, these poles are ultra compact and have held up just fine so far to general up and down wear and tear. I can navigate just fine with a single pole which allows me to share, but having the second really comes in handy for all day trekking.

At first I thought the folding a Z-Pole and FlickLock Pro mechanisms were a bit gimicky, but they're just so uber quick to deploy and have been super stable, no complaints what-so-ever.
