Trance Telemark Ski Boot - Women's

The Black Diamond Women’s Trance Telemark Ski Boot provides enough stiffness to have confidence on hairball lines without being overkill for the skin to the top. In addition to a flex rating of 90 and three micro-adjustable buckles for performance, the Trace Telemark Ski Boot also includes a plush Efficient Fit liner with dual Boa adjustments. Black Diamond uses overlap construction to make this boot torsionally stiff while allowing a natural forward flex. You also get a ski/walk mode adjuster to make your days in the hills even more comfortable and efficient.

Bottom Line: Tele boots for hardcore lines.

Comfortable, but heavy

This was my first foray away from Scarpa boots. While I liked the fit and the adjustment options, I skin for my turns and found these to be quite heavy, despite BD's billing them as a backcountry boot.

The numbers don't lie: These boots (around 7 lb for the pair) + BD O1 binding + skis + skins = just over 10 pounds per foot. Yikes!

I can recommend these if you are a lift skier and weight doesn't matter -- they are quite comfortable -- but this was the boot that pushed me back to Scarpa ... and over to AT as well. Tele skiing is wonderful and beautiful and soulful but I was getting tired of hauling all that soul up the mountain, and this boot was the last straw.

Are 24.5 and 25 the same shell size?

Nope, BD shells are sized on the half size. 24.0/24.5 share the same shell, and 25.0/25.5.

ALways thought I was a bad teleskier but with my new BD boots, I can keep up with the best of them. Maybe I still am a bad teleskier but my BD boots sure do compensate for my inadequacies!! Plus it's amazing to ski without sore feet -- who knew??

Small

These are very nice boots. I've used Scarpa before, but never really had a boot that was comfy. The Italian boots are way too narrow for my feet.
BD's are a totally different story, they are very comfy and wide enough for my northern european feet. Lots of nice details on them too.
They are a bit soft though, I use them for both going up and skiing down wich they are nice for. But if you want to ski agressively in the piste I would not recommend them.

They are very small. In both shoe size and actual size. I use MP 24 in Scarpa and 23,5 in Garmont. But these I have in 24,5.
And they are very short too. My bindings are Rotefellas Chili which both Scarpa and Garmont fit nicely in. But BD are too small, the cables are too long (even the shortest version), and I actually had to buy some new bindings because of this. Not all bad I have to admit, but an unexpected expence none the less.
