The Black Diamond Telekneesis Kneepad lets you move objects with the power of your knees. Unlike the cheesy skateboarding kneepads many telemarkers use, the Telekneesis only covers what it has to, so it doesn't mess up the breathability of those expensive ski pants. Three plastic shells with closed cell foam backing are articulated to be minimalist when you're standing up straight, but come together for full protection of the patella, as well as giving your upper shin and lower thigh a little coverage. The Telekneesis's smooth beveled edges won't catch on ski pants and are low profile so they won't scoop snow or look doofy.
Bottom Line: Far, far less expensive than knee surgery and far more comfortable.
I just completed a 4 day practicle rifle course in Las Vegas- temperatures 100+. I was the only shooter that left the gear on between stations becuase the gear was not heavy and did not cause sweating around the knees. Several other pads fell apart and the shooters were forced to duct tape them in place. These are great, durable pads for hot weather protection. I highly recommend these pads and will purchase more for the other shooters in the family.
I am a telemark skier and these are by far the best knee pads for the type of skiing I do. Not only do they provide amazing protection from those hidden hard objects but they bend so easily with your knee. The best thing about these is that you don't even notice they are there. I would recommend these for any snow sport enthusiast mainly because they keep your knees warm and flexible while shredding your favorite run.
Not much to add to the glowing reviews below from some of the most experienced and respected snow riders! What is nice for tele skiing is the upper and lower plastic which will protect above and below the knee unlike some pads. They will also make it more comfortable to pray for snow.

Once you wear these pads you'll never go back to skiing naked-kneed! There is a reason there are so many great reviews for the Telekneesis Kneepad... they are light, warm, and extremely protective. I love the fact that they keep my knees warm on cold lift rides where your knees stick right out into the cold. i love the fact that they protect my ski-joints when I'm digging a pit, adjusting a binding, lighting a stove, gasping, puking, or inspecting snow crystals. If you are a ski mountaineer you will definitely bang your knees on rocks while you climb epic descents, so protect that shit!
These knee pads are so comfortable they seem to disappear once you put them on. They are light yet provide great protection. My favorite feature is the upper portion where strap attaches. It stays above your kneecap even when in a deep knee bend, providing protection against a direct impact to the uphill knee while making a telemark turn. By far my all-time favorite knee pad. Can't say enough good things.
Whether your pounding nails, longboarding, biking or skiing, these lil guys are gonna keep you stoked! They keep blood flowing to your feet while staying in place. Super rad, definately recomend these ones!
My back knee is in the snow a lot when I ride steeps. A few years ago my worst fear came true when I clipped my knee on a rock. It took me a few years ti find the perfect knee pad and this is the one. Low pro but protective.
JohnK said it. They aren't as comfortable when worn on the outside, but you can hardly beat the steez! They're really comfortable and low profile when worn over your base layer, and under the shell pants. I wear mine every day I ski. I hardly notice they're on, but I do when they're not. It's getting redundant, but I feel naked without my knee pro'.
Most people choose over the insulation, under the outerwear. That said, you can do over the pants if you're going for a throwback tele-hippie kind of look
Knee pads are crucial, I forget them a few times a season and feel so naked and cant even really ski well. Not only do they protect my knees from lurking rocks and stumps but they keep my knees dry and warm for enhanced performance and comfort, they have become part of my body. Essential!!
These knee pads rule, ever since I started wearing them I cant ski with out them, I just feel so naked and vulnerable. I hit my knee on a rock a few years ago and broke the knee pad but in a few days my knee was fine, so lucky! I dont even know their there when im skiing and they also provide warmth and a protection for kneeling in the snow. The bomb!!
I wore these on every hike, ski, and basejump throughout my trip to Baffin. They are super lightweight, almost cant even tell that they are there. I never 'needed' them (which is a good thing!), but they were great for that extra comfort during steep hikes and postholing up to my chest.
They should work. They have a static strap on the bottom and an elastic strap at the top, so they work really well for about constant flexing, and stay comfortable.
If I forget my knee pads, I feel naked. These knee pads are essential whether you're an aggressive skier, a beginner, or intermediate level. They will protect your knees, and keep them warm. I skied two seasons without knee pads, and after one fall on a rock without knee pro', I immediately bought a pair. The positive things about these pads are that they're light weight, ergonomic, cheap (comparatively,) effective, and keep knees warm. I love warm knees. Negative things? Not really any, unless you have extremely small knees, or like to wear very tight ski pants. Not good on bare knees, either. So if you're a telemark skier these are especially crucial. The static strap on bottom combined with the elastic on top, keeps the pads secure and even throughout bending of the knee. I don't leave home without them.
I love these for skiing and patrol but I've started using these as "Just In Case" Mt bike knee pads. I keep them in my pack till I'm at the top then strap 'em on for the down. Very light and comfy. Buy them and you will find many uses.
Initially when I saw these I thought that I would never in a million years where these but after reading a ton of reviews from the Backcountry Pro Team I thought hey what the hell, they are really well priced and everyone seems to love them. Well...now I know why. I picked a pair up at the start of the 2010/11 season and I wore them every single day I was on the mountain. Whether riding lifts or splitting these things are bad ass. Yes you kind of look like a knob when initially putting them on but once your pants are over top of them nobody would ever know that you even have them on. I think my favorite feature as a snowboarder is is dry pants. Ever sat down for an extended period of time in the snow, inevitably the heat from your ass or you knees will melt the snow and then your pants get wet regardless if you have Gore or eVent pants. Now I just drop to my knees and because of the shell the heat doesn't transfer so I don't end up with wet knees or a soaking ass. Hey...what's not to like about that....ha....great for touring as well....even on the coldest days you can get away with the lightest pair of long underwear because these cover your knees and help regulate your temp quite well.
Hey, new snowboarder here, was wondering if this would be good to have, as I am often falling down a lot. Is it worth it to have these or am I good without them? Remember this is snowboarding, not skiing, though I don't know if that makes a diff, I'm still new to this.
These pads are sweet. They're super light, barely noticeable when you're wearing them, and totally bomber. I would recommend them to anyone. They don't slide around or fall down at all. I never ride without them now.
Will, Nick, Noah, Andy, and Chris all have it right. If you are a believer in Murpheys laws, like me, you know that when you forget your knee pads, is the day you wreck your knees. That may not be 100% true, but once you put these on the first time, after that, if you forget them- you'll be thinking about old uncle Murphey. So get some cheapos from the hardware store, or some expensive Arc Teryx ones, but protect your knees. I like the BD ones because they have a static strap on the top, and an elastic on the bottom, so they flex incredibly comfortably. Low Profile and ergonomic protection. These are the ones to buy, even if Black Diamond is turning into a money-hungry power house outdoor mega company.
These are super comfortable and they keep my knees warm and safe. I thought they would be bulky and overkill, but under my ski pants you can't tell they are on. For bc tele skiing where you don't know if there is a log, boulder, or concrete pillar under the snow, these are a must have with your avy gear. $40 is super cheap if you have ever banged your kneecap on the corner of a desk, you know who you are.
These knee pads don't restrict movement at all. If you tighten the bottom strap just enough and leave the top strap just tight enough to hold them in place, after your first run you won't even notice they are there. They also keep your knees nice and warm and limber.
Nope--only the way you don't want to bend them (ie, backwards). I put them on first thing in the morning and don't take them off until I get home. The best, most comfortable, and did I say best knee pad I've ever worn.
Started tele-skiing last year, and even though I was told I needed knee pads, I didn't get them until about a month ago. I finally started wearing them after hitting my knees in the bumps a few weeks ago. Now I won't ski without. I DO however, wish that these came in at least 2 sizes... maybe a S/M and then a L/XL. As a women with smaller knees, I just feel like there is a bit too much material... Maybe it will form better to my knee with more use, but for now, it just sticks out a bit much on the sides, and is a bit too tall... Still the best out there, but I do think that they need more sizes.
I use these for Patrol Work and thay never slip on me. I also wear them for general skiing just in case... I am also considering using them for Caving and Mt Biking. There are cheaper pads out there but you just cant beat Black Diamond gear.
These are the best, most comfortable kneepads I've had. I used to only put kneepads on for descents, but now I just wear them all day. Way easier and I don't even notice they're on.
Love these. I've only used them one day, but they were awesome. After a season of free heel skiing and feeling shrapnel fly up and hit my knees, and having cold knees when kneeling in the snow, and hitting my knees on cliffsides when hiking, or any other such thing, I absolutely love my kneepads and can't believe what I've been missing out on for so long. My knees feel comfortable and secure with these on, and I don't know if I'll be able to ski without them again.
They're cheap enough too! And they'll save your knees for sure. Definitely a worthwhile 40 bucks.
Love these things. I telemark and these things have averted 2 potentially devastating injuries. Once when my uphill knee hit a rock mid turn on an early season run which more or less brought me to an abrupt stop. The second time i started tumbling and ran into a tree, knees first. Both times I was able to get up and keep skiing without any injuries other than some slight bruising. Those two incidents have more than paid for these pads. Also they're light and help keep your knees warm and I don't notice them at all when I'm skiing or skinning. I would recommend this to anybody
purchased these pads because they have been so highly reccomended. currently they have been nothing short of perfect. as an apline skier, i have never worn kneepads but after hitting a rock early season with my knee as the stopping point, i felt it was time to pull the trigger.
other than the first five minutes i wore them i no longer notice them on. i have even toured with them on, they are great for digging pits and for the occasional moonwalk that occurs while skinning. if you are going to be wearing a helmet, you should also get a pair of these pads.
Keep your knees warm and somewhat protected and they will thank you. But hopefully you'll never know it.
Use it for Alpine skiing. Have small knees, but the big Telekneesis seashells are nicely curved so they fit me with a side-to-side coverage. Cut excessive strap length, keep it a bit loose and literally can't feel I'm wearing it while skiing. Also pads require some extra space under your outer pants to not interfere with knee bending.
As for protection - not sure about snowboard specific protection (which is more demanding I think) but it works fine for small issues like hitting tree branches etc.
Just thought I'd beat the dead horse here... these pads are perfect, I bump chairs all day and these are great. I put them on in the morning and I forget that they are there until someone nails me in the knee with a ski and it just bounces right off! Get some pads they are well worth it.
At first when I got these, I thought they were awfully skinny to protect my knees. But they do a great job. I can fit them under my snowboard pants (I use them for snowboarding) and I barely notice them. Whenever I fall, they are right there. Only had them slip off one time after a long sidewards slide down the slopes, but that was well after the point of impact.
Haven't done anything that I think could have damaged my knees yet, but it's great being able to get up immediately from a spill.
Do your knees a favor and put these on, you'll thank yourself later. They provide superb protection from rocks and frozen death cookies while keeping a low profile. I actually forget I have them on sometimes. They also do add a bit of extra warmth, which is nice when you're standing around waiting for first chair on a frigid morning.
The only (minor) downside is that a few times, the straps have undone themselves, though only after a BIG fall, and the pad began sliding down my shin. Kind of annoying to fix, but like I said, it happens very rarely.
These would work well, they are low profile enough to fit under pants and are very comfortable.------------I would just say that at least when skiing, they chafe if you don't have long underwear under them. One warm-weather solution I used was to take old, light long undies or knee socks, cut them off, and then just pad the knee.
I've been skiing telemark for a while now and these are great knee pads. I was worried that they would slip a little, but having the non-stretchy material on the lower section and the stretchy material on the upper makes for the best of both worlds. Even if I didn't have them cinched up enough, the lower part would still keep the knee pad in place and the upper stretchable strap would give with the movement. No velcro, no problems! Great knee pads!
My tele instructor friends made me get knee pads, and I ended up with the Black Diamond Telekneesis in my Christmas stocking - very lucky. They're fantastic knee pads that I don't notice when they're on, except when I take a bump on the knee, and then they take all of the blow. This is why they're great:
- very low profile, fit under any ski pants - elastic upper strap flexes when you bend; lower webbing strap stays fixed below the knee - incredibly flexible and don't inhibit movement at all - no velcro to catch on pants or long underwear - straps never come undone - solid construction (have had them for 4 years) - not expensive, especially compared to - and clearly: prevent bumps to the knee, from minor to major
I've fallen on my knee many times, and the only time I've gotten bruised was last weekend, out on a surprise day without my knee pads. And as other reviewers have said, I now feel naked and not nearly as confident when I know I don't have them on. Buy them and use them!
never had kneepads before, never thought i'd need them. once i used these, i will never go boarding without them again.
i usually don't like sitting on my butt on a hill, because a) i don't want to get nailed by somebody crashing down the hill w/o seeing it coming; and b) i usually look up the hill to see if my slower friends are coming down. therefore, i rest on my knees, and these are worth their price for that use alone - tough yet comfortable.
the reason they went above and beyond is because they saved my knees when i crashed in this huge ice patch i didn't see. i would definitely have been out of commission for at least a week if it wasn't for these pads.
with all due respect to other reviewers' sensitive skin, i have strapped these directly to my bare leg w/o any problems...;)
pros: lightweight, flexible, good coverage, keeps knees protected and WARM.
cons: vinyl strap is a little uncomfortable when squatting, i make sure it's always on the bottom and keep it loose.
These kneepads fit great, keeps your knees warm, and don't restrict movement. The 3 piece shell design works great to protect your knee, the top of your shin, and the very top of your knee. They shift around side to side though. You never know when a whipper or log is going to pop up, so protect your knees.
Want a decent pair of knee pads for pre-hospital trauma work - kneel a lot on concrete tending to patients - will these do the job under clothes? Thanks
I use these whenever I telemark and I forget I even have them on almost immediately. They never come off, are super comfy, and in case I hit my knee on my ski or the boiler plate ice of Mad River, I ski away just fine. Only complaint is that on super warm days, my knees can get a bit sweaty, but something pretty minor. Recommend them to ALL my friends!
I used to think the knee pads for just for tele skiers. Then my fixed-heel brother put his knee into a tree at a ski resort. So I decided to get knee pads for glade skiing. On the advice of my only remaining tele partner (although even he is getting a Dynafit setup now), I bought these knees. Very light, very comfy, very stable (no slipping), very unobtrusive overall.Hint (from my tele friend): put them *over* your long underwear but *underneath* your Schoeller pants. (Otherwise, too much snow gets into them.)
I bought these last season after I slammed my rear knee on a rock when my toe edge slipped out from under me. I wear these under my snowboard pants and they're so comfortable I forget I even have them on.
THE BEST kneepads for telemarking. The straps are attached to parts of the pad that are articulated (above and below the main pad), with a static lower strap to cinch down on the calf and an elastic upper strap to cinch down on the thigh--the result is that the pad stays put even when you walk, climb, ski, dig, dance...whatever you might do while wearing knee pads. I was wearing these when I was in a head-on car crash (two totalled vehicles), and although my knees were pushed up against the dashboard, no bruises or broken bones! (this may have had something to do with the safety features of the brand-new car I was in, but I'll give the kneepads some credit too)
I've been using these knee pads for a year now and I have to say I love them! I don't really notice them when I am riding down the mountain and they fit right under my pants. No one even notices that I have them on. They have been threw many hard falls and these are still going strong. These will not hinder your riding at all. If your looking for a good pair of knee pads, you found them here!
They're buckles, but it's a really slim, low profile buckle. You slide the strap through it, flip it up to adjust, clamp it down to lock. I've been able to do it through my pants with gloves on. Foolproof.
Banged-up knees are an occupational hazard for me. I've been wearing these all day, every work day, for as long as 14 hours. They barely show under my trousers and are so comfortable I forget they're there.
Hey, Just used them for the 09-10 season on the east coast with both packed powder AND fresh powder simultaneously. I was so glad to have these at the start of the day because single digit temps made the snow very unforgiving until the fresh stuff started falling. Let me tell you, without them, I'd have given up on the day much earlier. Wrap them around your base layer and your good to go. Like many others, I've noticed that they do cut off the circulation somewhat, so adjusting them every so often is required. I put them over my sweat pants but under my board pants and we were good to go. Landed numerous times with a variety of falls and never felt a thing. They adjust well to the articulation of the knee, flex well and are also low profile. You'll hardly notice them when walking around and boarding (or skiing) until you take a fall and then you'll be glad you have them on. Not sure how well they would do at the terrain park, I haven't tested them and the terrain park isn't my favorite place to be since I'd rather be speeding down the mountain than rail sliding. I've stopped and fallen on them at a variety of speeds and they hold up well, they don't end up scratching a hole in my pants and you can't go wrong with them. Well worth the price since I have a weak front knee from years of martial arts impacts and I still came out fine after numerous landings. It's true, versus knee surgery, it's a no brainer, go and get'em.
I fall plenty when I snowboard, and most often my knees hit first. On top of that, I'm usually relegated to the Poconos, where "snow" means ice and "powder" is a myth. So I hit hard ground, I hit it from normal snowboarding (no jumps here), and I hit it regularly.
These things fit well, they slide very easily under my (not all that baggy) pants, and they move with me perfectly. I forget I'm even wearing them until my knees hit ice and I barely feel it.
All around, a great investment. I don't know how they'd hold up against a fall from altitude, but I also don't plan to find out any time soon!
Let me just start off by saying, I don't get along with snow. These kneepads are great for loads of other activities other then skiing. They are one of the few pads I've worn that actually stay put. Anything you can think of that you need knee protection for, these are a great option.
These knee pads are awesome. They are very lightweight - so much so you forget you have them on. They're perfect for wear under your board pants and give sound protection. You can make any move on your board and the pad moves with you. Pefect for resting on your knees while you wait for your buds on the mountain.
This is not an overly "cushy" knee pad that you would see on a skateboarder. They're perfect for the snow and have never slipped on me.
I bruised my left knee fairly badly on a fall before I decided to buy these (no structural damage in my knee from the fall, just a simple bone bruise). Once I strapped these on, no tumble whatsoever affected my left knee.
These won't slide down your leg and they aren't cumbersome in any way. I couldn't even tell I was wearing them at any point during my rides.
I was very glad I purchased these because my days on the slopes could have been very short if I wouldn't have been wearing them after my initial wipeout.
Got these for tele'ing. No issues, these things rock. They keep your knees warm too which apparently helps reduce the chance of a knee injury (cold tendons snap easier). Love 'em
They pad your knees. No pinching from the straps nor gapping on the sides. Would have given them 5 stars if the calf strap was elastic. Not a big deal but I'm lazy and don't want to unfasten the clip to take them off.
Works perfect on snow and I use this for airsoft as well. Pros: It's thin and can be worn under pants. Very well secured, confy and does not grab branches when I crawling on the ground. Cons: Too thin (the foam is only 1/4 inch thick) to absorb the impact from landing on hard surface like concrete or rocks. If you need better protection to your knee caps, try this: http://www.backcountry.com/arcteryx-kneecaps
I have this pair, too. It's 1/2 inch thick and I can land my knees on rocks without hesitation.
I wouldn't leave home without these badboys! From beginner to advanced these will save your ass (or, knees rather) more than once. These are, by far, the most comfortable and low-profile knee pads I have ever come across. Like the other reviews say, these do not work well on your skin! So, be sure to put them over your thermals and you are on your way!
These are a much have. I have known people who have had terrible knee injuries form slamming their knees into the the hard ground. These are supper light so you don't even know your wearing any pads. They stay in place all day long.
I went snowboarding for the first time last week, and I purchased these knee pads on the advice of a friend. They told me that newbie boarders are on their knees and ass a lot, so I thought it would be smart to pick up a pair.
I'm so glad I did. Not only did they make it more comfortable kneeling on the hill resting or waiting for others, but they really came in handy when I caught a toe edge and spilled hard. Without these, there's no doubt that my knees would have been messed up pretty good.
They fit perfectly, and are very comfortable. I forgot that I had them on until I crashed. Pick up a pair - you won't be sorry.
Super lightweight- you dont notice them while skiing. I wear these mountain biking too- Im willing to sacrifice protection for cutting the bulk, but after a buddy shattered his kneecap skiing I feel naked without a cap whenever I see rocks.
Nice pads with nice design. One of adjustable straps is elastic, so it feels more comfortable when you wear it. Pads easily fits tiny knees of my wife and my, pretty big and wide, so, in terms of sizing they're pretty versatile. Inner part is not so soft as you can have with other brands, but it soft enough to protect your knees. Outer hard shell very cool feature, more protection from sharp edges/stones. My only concern is about locks for adjustable straps. They're plastic and looks pretty flimsy for me... From another point of view - they're still working ;)
I am 32 years old and learned snowboarding this year. Needless to say I took a few tumbles. I only had to use these kneepads on three falls in particular, but one of those falls was direct downhill pressure on my knees and I barely even noticed it thanks to these pads. They are also very comfortable... almost didn't even notice them thanks to the small buckle straps. I would also suggest some good butt pads which is where I spent a lot of the first 2 days.
The BD knee knockers are one of the only, if not the only, tele knee pad that offers both top and bottom articulated coverage. On very steep terrain, I have had the opposite ski edge ride across my knee abpove the knee cap and I feel this extra bit of coverage has saved me from deep tissue bruising on many occasions. They are also very low profile and the straps seem to miraculously find their way right into the buckle every time. Strange but true. No cons unless you your knees are sensitive to pressure. In that case no knee pad is gonna work.
I won't go up without them, no matter what I'm doing or how I'm skiing. One of the best things about them is the elasticized upper strap - when you drop into a turn, the circumference of the thigh grows, and the straps can be restricting. Not with these pads. In fact, I wear mine loosely strapped, and then wrap a few layers of duct tape around my leg at the bottom of the pad, on the outside of my pants. The tape keeps the pad in place, straps keep it centered, and i get much less wear on my patella over the course of the day. Eliminates some post-ski ache. See you on the hill.
Extremely comfortable, can be used for skiing or snowboarding (I'm an sber). Just came back from a day trip and immediately had to give praise to these gems. Felt no pain in the knees after taking hard spills in the icy icy east coast groomed trails. I wore them under my outerwear pants and wore boxers under only, no base layer and it was still very comfortable even though you will know the kneepads are there. It wasn't a problem for me since the protection they offer was amazing and didn't impede on any of my movement. Wish I had a pair of these when I first started out snowboarding, would've saved a lot of pain and bruises over the years. A Must Buy! Worth every penny!
i simply love my knee pads! I'm a beginner snowboarder and now progressing to intermediate, all cuz of them! I'm not afraid of falling on my knees anymore and has helped boost my confidence on the slopes. You can feel these pads absorb all the impact when you fall on an icy patch! I swear never to hit the slopes without them!
Im new to snowboarding i started late in life and to top it im a heavyweight person. So trying just to find kneepads that fit is next to impossible to find even online. Before i got these kneepads, my knees were black and blue and i could not really walk, it took at least two weeks for the pain to go away. I went snowboarding just two weeks before i got and used these kneepads, i crushed really bad in to some hay bale i just couldnt stop in time. (newbie still learning) I found these kneepads accidentally online read its reviews and blogs, nothing i read said it would fit for a heavyweight like me just one size fits all. But it did say it uses buckle straps which you cant see in the picture also when you put it on you forget its on. So i got them and yes its buckle straps and i was amazed it fit me with no problem. I was so happy i finally found kneepads that fits a person of my size, then i went snowboarding the weekend after i got them, but my one knees was still alittle sore from last time. Let me tell you I am so impressed with these kneepads. Using them with one of my knee still hurting i forgot they were on, they are very comfortable and kept my knees form getting hurt worst. At the end of the day my knees was not black and blue at all and i was able to walk the next day even speed walk without any pain unlike the other people who went with me and has more experience snowboarding. You should really get these kneepads whether you have a small, average or big body frame like me especially if your a newbie or not. They work great!
I have been skiing in these for five years. They will fit on either leg, but I like to keep the buckles on the outside. I pulled a high speed knee-dipping turn in some steep bumps that brought my knee in contact with an unseen rock. besides the sudden jolt and the ringing in my ears, my knee-pad plastic shell cracked! I believe I would have shattered my knee-cap without these pads. I immediately bought another pair and will not ski without them. I also started using these on my snowboard. Snowboarders are always kneeling in the snow, why don't they use knee pads?
There's no need to repeat my self, everybody else reviewing the product covered the subject pretty good. I just want to say - this is the Kneepads you need !
These knee pads were a nice little piece of confidence boost for a first time snowboarder. They are light and comfortable...so much so that I forgot that I still had them on during the 1.5 hour drive home.
I am a telemark skier, I tried this Telekneesis Kneepad to Livigno during Skieda, supernatural... They are so comfortable as after one or two bends they disappear and i do not feel them any more I have do telemark all day long in the powdery confidently. It stay above your knee once you put them, you don't have to fixe them any more during the day. Perfect for all telemark skier.
Not for support but for protection. Used these pretty much everyday for the past 3 years and no problemas. these work great. Esp if you tele, invest in preventative equipment. You can f*%k with the gods, but not with your knees.
The third piece adds major pro..as compared to arcteryx.......light enough for touring, you may find yourself three-pitchers deep at the end of the day before you realize they'r still on-
following all of the great reviews, its good to note that these pads do not feel comfortable directly on your skin. You need to put a layer of clothing under them. This is an issue for me because i like to only wear my fancy boxers under my pants.
I recently purchased these kneepads and they are outstanding. Finding a low profile kneepad that works and keeps the knees warm is hard. I highly recommend them.
Always had a problem getting a pair of knee pads that fit perfectly for snowboarding, and after cracking my kneecap in half I have no choice to where one. These are by far the most comfortable, easy adjusting, lightest pair I've ever had. I would recommend these over and over and over again.
If my knees could talk, it would say "You're Awesome". Because it is that awesome. It is so awesome that the definition of the word was defined by this product.
Any-who, the kneepads does a spectacular job at preventing my knees from exploding from the awesomeness of my riding. It is rather comfortable with liners on, however it is a bit torturous without (especially when bending your knees while taking a big deuce). But if you can stand through having elastic straps cutting circulation off your bare skin, you are cool in my book.
Most of the time, I don't even realize I'm wearing them. They are so versatile that I wear them everyday to school, to the supermarket and even wedding receptions. You never know when someone might take a hatchet or a chainsaw and cut up your knees, but when it does happen, you will be more than prepared.
It's like being Iron Man... only on your knees though. If someone shot you, you'd probably be seriously injured (unless they shot you in the knees).
i love these kneepads! i used them for the first time last weekend. i was worried that they wouldn't fit because they look kind of big. it's one size fits all and im very petite, but they adjust and fit all around my knee. i fell a couple of times while boarding but it felt like i was falling on powder. they are great! i'll never go boarding without them again!
I used these snowboarding in Vail last week and they were awesome. You did not even notice you were wearing them until they were needed. Very high quality and super comfortable.
Not a backcountry skiier, but I've been taking up a bastard version of roller skiing called skiking and wanted some lightweight, easy to put on, stay-in-place, protection for my inevitable falls. Had my first hard fall yesterday and the pads took a good whack. Did not feel a thing so I rate them a major success. They are just there when you need them and totally unnoticed when you don't. Excellent.
I just completed a 4 day practicle rifle course in Las Vegas- temperatures 100+. I was the only shooter that left the gear on between stations becuase more...
I am a telemark skier and these are by far the best knee pads for the type of skiing I do. Not only do they provide amazing protection from those hidden more...
