First rope bag I've bought. I like that it has a large tarp to flake the rope on. I wish it was bigger. I carried my 70m 9.7mm rope in it and barely had room for my harness to fit. I couldn't get my helmet and shoes to fit in the bag with the rope and harness. But, I guess that's forgivable as it's really just intended to carry a rope.
Pretty uncomfortable to carry. Only has one shoulder strap, without much padding. Having the one strap forces you to carry it off-balance, which sucks on the hike in and out. Makes it hard to hike with over uneven terrain.
I wish it had some kind of loops or something on the exterior as well. A place to hang some biners, draws, a helmet, or shoes would have been helpful. Also, since there's no attachment points on the bags exterior, you can't add on your own shoulder straps after you buy it.
The buckles have annoying attachment clips that you have to slide through the straps. This is really hard to do when your hands are freezing/wearing gloves, the straps are wet, or the bag is really stuffed full.
Overall, I plan on returning the bag and getting something larger and more versatile.

This bag is a gem. The Super Chute holds my 60m rope and gear with room to spare. The bag has a huge thin tarp to help extend the life of your rope, and is also extremely durable. The buckle straps are bomb proof and do a nice job of compressing your rope to a manageable size. My only complaint would be the strap. The strap is very uncomfortable over a period of time. I almost always have my rope bag in my pack, but the few times I have not it has sucked. All in all, this is a great bag that everyone should own.

Spacious .

is there enough room in this after you put the rope in to put extra stuff like quickdraws or gear in it??

Yes, but not a lot. If you had a small rope that didn't take up much space (like a 9.5 mm), you could probably get ten draws and your harness in there, and then clip your shoes on the outside. A bigger concern is that it's not very comfortable to carry much weight in.

Yes, you should have plenty of room. I have a 60m rope that is 10.1mm thick and I have plenty of space. In fact, you could probably fit a rack of gear and still be fine. The downside to this bag, is that it only has one strap, which makes carrying it very uncomfortable.

I really like these rope bag, easy to pack your rope and compress well, so you can fit it on your crag back pack and keep your rope clean on dusty cliffs.

Does this bag fit into the bottom of the new Arc'teryx Miura 45?

My 9.8mm 60m rope fits well into the bottom of my Miura in this bag. My 70m really takes up a lot of the space but you can still fit everything necessary for a day of sport climbing. I cannot fit much of a trad rack in.

That's about all there is to it.

I haven't used the strap a lot just because I usually just throw it in my pack, doesn't seem to be noticeably uncomfortable though.

I have a 60M 9.9mm rope in mine and its cinched down pretty good, could easily fit a harness and rack (depending on how well-endowed it is) in there if you wanted to.

Bottom line it does what its made for and seems like it'll hold up for a few years

I just got the super shute bag and I love it. I was debating about not choosing to get a rope bag, but they keep your rope much safer from debris and additional damage which increases the lifespan of your rope. I like this bag because it has area to attach each end of your rope and a very large tarp to flake the rope if needed. It easily fits my 10.2 70M rope and the strap makes it easy to cary if you have a full pack. It was a little more than the metolious one, but Black Diamond is my go to company.

It's sturdy and holds a ton. I can fit my 60m rope, bundled harness, shoes, and belay device all easily inside the draw string top. The buckle straps then compress and hold everything tight. If you spend the time to set up the shoulder strap to fit you it is actually pretty comfortable too. The tie off loops inside and on the tarp make it super safe and convenient to start climbing right away without having to flake out the rope. All around an awesome bag.

This bag is awesome and pretty durable. The tarp is huge and the compression straps are great for bundling up the rope to stuff into a pack. It fits a 70m, 2 pairs of shoes, a dozen draws, first aid kit, brushes and some food/water. Only downside is that it doesn't have backpack/shoulder straps, just a shoulder sling (messenger bag style).

I use this bag to store my 60m rope and it has plenty of room, easy to carry and has a good size tarp. I?ve heard people complain about the strap and I disagree. True that it?s not a bag to use for a long hike to the crag but that?s obvious, if that?s what you want then get a backpack style bag. Has a sweet look and can cinch down tight.

I use this as my rope bag for two 8.2mm / 60m double ropes. It handles them with ease. The tarp is great and the strap is comfortable enough to carry the ropes down after long multi-pitch climbs with good walk offs.

I love this bag. It is functional and sturdy. I have been using it outside regularly for the last 8 months and have zero holes or abrasions on the tarp. Rolls up nicely with rope inside and is comfy to carry on your shoulder.

This is my second BD Rope Bag. This bag is so great and always does the trick. It has the perfect amount of tarp to protect your rope when climbing.

For sure the best part of this rope bag is the strap. It's the best strap I have ever seen. It's like getting a professional massage. It is a beautiful and wondrous strap that makes me feel like all is right in the world... I LOVE YOU STRAP!!! But seriously, I don't wear my rope bag as a backpack so the strap is fine with me... I might use it to move down the crag a bit, but other than that, when approaching, my rope and ropebag is in my backpack. So to all the strap haters...don't hate the player hate the errr...??? TRUTH BE SAID... What makes this bag the bomb-diggity, is the the generously sized tarp that lurks with humble ninja prowess, within the bag. Most rope bags offer a skimpy little paper towel sized tarp that only protects your rope if you fold it into the limited space with origami like precision. I am not that precise... I need space on my tarp. I want room to roam. I'm a free spirit and I want my rope tarp to be of the same ilk. (insert heart felt chest-thump here) MY MOST FAVORITE THING ABOUT THIS ROPE BAG though...is the green color. I think it's a really sexy green. When I go to the crag I have to wear my wedding ring if I bring this rope bag, because it is pretty much an aphrodisiac. Chicks be flocking, and they seem to like the strap.

Anyone have trouble with the strap/buckle closure system being very difficult to close after some use of the bag?

I've not seen any problems with those buckles even on pretty beat up super chutes.

The buckles on mine are super robust. Never had any issues with them.

I think the tolerance on the opening for the buckle is too tight for the strap. After the strap get's dirty it was really hard to pull and tighten. A minor issue but frustrating when you can't loosen or tighten the buckles very easily

The bag itself is a good bag. The tarp is big enough to actually be useful and it packs away easily.

I do wish it was smaller though. Like others have said, theres room for extra gear in this bag. You can probably see in the pictures that I put up that even with a 70m rope packed away there's a lot of space left in the top of the bag.

The strap feels fine to me.. but it's hard to adjust. It works just like the double back on a harness... but it sinches down on itself too well and it's difficult to release (to make the strap longer.

I also wish that the compression straps doubled up and attached to themselves rather than letting the end hang loose. When the bag is compressed there's a significant amount of strap just dangling around with no where to go.

All small problems... I still like the bag.
