Instead of making the StormWeight Glove just like every other WindStopper glove out there, Black Diamond gave it a durable, grippy Pittards leather palm for increased versatility. This Black Diamond glove packs the punch to be used alone for hiking, skiing, and even ice climbing in moderate weather conditions. Of course, you can still use it as a liner when you want.

Here's what others have to say...

Does anyone have experience using these...

Does anyone have experience using these with touchscreen devices?

I would be replacing an old pair of Mountain Hardwear Torsion gloves that have Pittards palms and work with touch screen. Wasn't sure if this is a truism or if that's just how old and worn those gloves are.

If it's not listed as a feature, you mighta just got lucky. I have some cycling gloves that work with the touch screen too and I assume it's just cuz there's so much salt embedded in the fingers.

Great For Dry Conditions

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I love these little gloves for anything in dry conditions. I didn't find them to be baggy or drafty, as others have mentioned. Of course, I tried them on before I bought them, so I found the sizes that fit me best. The Windstopper does its job, keeping the wind out of the glove. As long as you stay dry, you stay warm. I use these gloves under a shell frequently, so they work great for me. And the leather palm is awesome compared to the rubber grips on a lot of gloves.

Full disclosure, I have been participating in the Gore MountainTechs program since 2007, though I did not receive these gloves from Gore.

These gloves are awesome!!!

These gloves are a great value for what you can do with them. I have used them ice and alpine climbing since this design came out. The dexterity is great, they are simple and clean so they will fit under the cuff of a jacket and the palm is really durable (I use them on appel as well). They will wet out as they are a fleece glove but that is why you should have multiple pairs. These gloves fit me perfectly and are not baggy, perhaps people should read the size chart before purchasing. As for warmth, I have climbed in these gloves below 0F but I was moving quickly. If you get cold with these on you are not moving fast enough or maybe you haven't been hydrating or eating properly.

not what i expected

I was looking for a stretchy glove liner that can hold up against minor wind and temps down to 30. these gloves are pretty good against wind, and i can only imagine it performing well into the 30s, since i haven't had them long enough to test it in that condition. but they are not stretchy like the midweight glove liners from BD, which are great for doing detailed work while keeping your digits warm. these gloves are not good for tasks like lighting a stove, openning the Mountainhouse pouch, or even turning on headlamps (i had troubles)

Sucks. Ok these gloves are super baggy. They make your fingers look like dog skin. As soon as I got them that same day the clip that holds the gloves together fell off. I really don't like these gloves at all. I'll be returning these. They seem super cheap. Considering you can get something for the same price that is way nicer.

you like those real snug ones i guess. well in cold these will keep you warmer by not constricting your circulation. i use them in photography and find them next to my 10 year old extremities gloves the best of the bunch in warm and dexterity

Jesse, you are confusing people out there. While everyone's writing something nicer, you start writing shit.

I hate them, I have other black diamond gloves and like them. I just think these are terrible. Not writing shit, just saying I hate them. So let people have opinions ven. Reviews are so people can see if people like things or not. These gloves were very uncomfortable to me, functioned very poorly, and broke the first time I touched them, so I don't want others to buy this product when, in my opinion, anything else is better.

Leaky Seams

Single stick steams allow the wind in easily. It's a bit like wearing a windstopper jacket that's unzipped. It kind of defeats the purpose.

Exactly what they say

Gloves do exactly what they say. Not incredibly insulated but block the wind well. Anything short of snow these are perfect.
