See through the dark and gnarly.

Moonless nights and torrential thunderstorms make for spectacular photos, but they also mean you're out in the elements when it's pitch-black and Biblically wet. See your camera settings and then some with the Black Diamond Storm Headlamp. Completely redesigned, this feather-light headlamp puts lighting level controls at your fingertips. PowerTap technology lets you dim the lights when the mood is right, or fully illuminate the situation when you hear a critter rustling around camp. Two red LED lights give you owl-like night vision, and a lock mode lets you pack this lamp without burning through your batteries before you've left the house. The Storm even includes a strobe option to turn your campsite into a rocking disco. Weighing under four ounces, this rugged headlamp provides high-power lighting in a tougher-than-steel package.

Nice headlamp

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I traditionally don't use BD headlamps (they always seem to break on me). Got this as a gift a couple months ago and it's still going strong. Is bright, battery life is good, and seems durable. If you have something against Petzl (my preference), this is a close second.

Is that a car....nope a headlamp!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I specifically got this for hiking in Glacier NP and it worked like a charm. Crazy bright, different settings, pretty light, just what I needed. I also took it along hunting this season too and man it can light up the woods for tracking or use the red light feature to be a little more discreet when sneaking to an early morning stand. The battery life is pretty awesome too, still have the original batteries in it and still bright as ever. I'd pick one up if I were you.
