  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This is a great day-hiking/climbing/skiing pack. It compresses down to a fairly small size but can actually store quite a bit. Compression straps, storage for 2 ice tools, waist and chest clips and a dual-cinch main compartment. Too small for backpacking or camping, but perfect for one-day trips.

Great little pack.

I purchased this pack for my wife and thought she was going to reject it because I thought it was going to be Banana yellow and then it was just going to be My pack. It is definitely more green than yellow. I have seen sulfur and it is more yellow than green. She was fine with the 'green' sulfur color and it fits her really well. I look like I am trying to stuff myself into a young girls training bra when I put it on. Once I get the straps all lengthened out it fits fine. It is on the petite side of things. I just feel like there should be a Hello kitty emblem on the back of it because it almost seems like a toy backpack on my back.

I really like the features they were able to put on such a small pack. The water bladder sleeve with the little strap at the top to keep the bladder from collapsing down to the bottom of the sleeve. The drinking tube access point and tube holder on the shoulder strap. The extendable cinch collar and top that has storage, along with all the other little webbing straps are just really well thought out.

It is just a great little pack

Will this pack carry a piolet? It looks as if the head of the axe would fit well behind the lower center buckle?

If you look towards the bottom of the back on the front side you can see a triangle yellow piece of nylon that sits above the black curvature, where they connect I guess. I have been putting the pick of the axes down there and then using the red draw strings above to cinch and hold the handles. I then take some of the adjustable webbing near the bottom to wrap up the pick of the axe just to make sure it wont go anywhere.

Awesome Alpine Pack

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have mainly used this pack for ice and alpine rock climbs. It has been drug up several chimneys and put through the ringer. The pack is rather durable with some minor signs of wear on the lid and front of pack. Great for day outings. I am able to fit my rack, harness, puffy, water, food, two pairs of gloves, thermos, and all the little essentials with ease for ice climbing. Once climbing the compression straps make it small and non restricting .

Awesome day pack!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I love this pack, I take it up hiking with us, or just up the canyon to have a fire and make some dinner for the night. It is so comfortable to hike with in the shoulders and on my back, I could carry it all day.
I do use this pack more than just hiking though, I bring it here to work with me daily to bring in my lunch, snacks and anything else I may need! I love this pack, and the color is awesome too, a nice pop of yellow! (I find it does have a greenish tint to the yellow color too).
It does have the top lid pocket, the internal pack itself and there is a smaller/deep pocket in that internal pack as well, so lots of room!
This pack is highly recommended!

the best day/summit pack

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I purchased a speed 40 for dayhike, it's way too big so I kept it as my backpacking bag. I then did more research and bought the speed 22 and I've used it in Utah, Idaho, Adirondacks, Wyoming... fantastic design and way better than REI's flash 18 which I used previously. Highly recommended.
