Protect your hands when you head into harsh winter weather with the Black Diamond Soloist. This fully waterproof, insulated glove is best suited for frigid winter pursuits like mountaineering, ice climbing, and skiing thanks to its removable BDry insert and toasty combination of Polartec Hi-Loft and PrimaLoft insulations. The goat leather palm with Kevlar stitching provides a secure and durable grip on your ice axe or poles, and the wrist strap and gauntlet drawcord keep out powder and debris.

Bottom Line: Warm and waterproof for ass-cold mountain pursuits.

Good glove for the price.

While this is not my all-time favorite glove it really good for the price. Plenty of dexterity and warmth. Removable liners make it easy to dry out whether you are on an expedition or just at home eating some carbs and getting some sleep in between ski days. The large gauntlet provides easy on and off and great protection from the elements. I prefer some sort of knuckle protection which this glove does not have.

Good Economical Cold Weather Glove

By:

Got these gloves to handle temps from -10 to 20 degrees F. I have had them for a month in the Boston/NH area. I thought that these would be a 2 piece glove. An inner liner that could be worn independantly of the outer. As well as an outer that you can wear on its own as well. This is not the case. You cannot wear either alone. I think the only reason why they separate is for washing purposes. Perhaps it's because the glove palms are leather and its better not to put them in the washer. I was at an outdoor store this week and checked out some gloves. It appears that many gloves are moving away from having 2 pieces. I bought these as an alternative to Heli Gloves from Hestra. I have never owned them but decided to go cheaper. Based on what I saw last week I am very happy with the quality of these gloves. They are super warm and will be able to handle the temps I want. The fabric is durable and the leather palm is stitched in a matter to prevent ripping and cracking near the thumb. They are warm when wet but they are not good in slush or rain or constant contact with snow conditions. They are not waterproof. I am happy with the quality, style, warmth, and features for the price

Black Diamond Soloist Glove

Purchased this glove for skiing and it is ok for temps above 15 dgrees F. However, I also purchase the Black Diamond Guide Glove and prefer that one for overall use skiing as it is good to temps as low as 0 degrees F so far. If your hands are cold natured, buy the Guide. If not, the Soloist will work well and give you a bit more dexterity.

Great Gloves

I bought these as a gift for a backcountry skier, who loves them. I hear they got him through a very cold weekend with no problem at all.

The Soloist is a great glove. I've used it with and without the removable liner and it definitely has become my main glove. You get your $$$ worth with it.
