Description

A full-featured women's specific touring boot that compromises nothing on the downhill.

For women who refuse to compromise downhill performance in a touring-capable boot, the Black Diamond Shiva MX 110 Alpine Touring Boot offers big-mountain confidence with full backcountry touring capability. Although it is the women's-specific version of the Factor Mx 130, it is by no means the same boot with a different color scheme. The 100mm v-shaped last and 110 flex rating are tailored to the geometry and forces of a woman's body on the boot, and the 100% thermoformable Direct Connect liner ensures a great fit right from the start. To accommodate alpine or tech bindings, the Shiva features Black Diamond's game-changing Mx Direct Connect swappable sole-block system that makes for quick and easy changing from touring to resort mode.

The boot that saved a relationship!

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share

My girlfriend has been using her college race boots multiple years past their prime. She would always find an excuse not to replace them, even though there were holes all the way through the liner, and there was barely anything left of the lugs for bindings to clamp onto. Even with squeezing toe warmers in there she would have cold feet after one lift ride up the hill, and touring in them became to painful to even consider.

She tried these on in the fall and fell in love. While they won't perform as well as a race boot they have a very warm liner, a woman specific last that fits her foot well, and a very effective walk mode.

On the first day of use she was out all day and practically ever other part of her body was cold at some point but her feet were never the issue.

While Black Diamond claims last years model was the big redesign, the new MX version fits differently than last years model and has a few nice improvements.

The swappable tech soles for you dynafit bindings now come with the boot (not sold separately like before). The soles on the boot will work with any Alpine binding, the buckles are now wire instead of plastic (lower profile and smoother action), the flex is a bit stiffer for those who like to charge hard, and they are even a tad lighter now!
