Description

The all-terrain touring ski that makes precise turns on hardpack and provides stable skiing in soft or variable snow.

The Black Diamond Revert Ski eats fresh powder for breakfast, spring corn for lunch, a sunset tour for dinner, and a moonlit backcountry adventure for dessert. This versatile touring ski features a rockered tip and tail profile that floats in soft snow and provides easy turn initiation while its 95mm waist and regular camber underfoot supplies rock-solid edgehold on hardpack and in steep, technical terrain.

Designed with Formula One 3D Light Sandwich construction, the Revert delivers maximum torsional stiffness with the least amount of weight possible for agility and edge hold on variable snow. The Revert's narrow 5mm ABS sidewalls offer durability and a long ski life while its rubber technology helps absorb vibration for a smooth ride. Pre-peg fiberglass technology controls the exact amount of epoxy resin used in each ski to maximize the fiber's contribution to strength and stiffness. As a result, this process reduces weight while retaining strength, precision, and consistency.

Equipped with a 3D CNC Paulownia wood core (a lightweight, fast-growing, easily renewable wood), the Revert provides a fun, snappy, and lightweight ride down all types of terrain. Power edges (Black Diamond's thickest edge) supplies solid durability, while the Revert's P-Tex 4000 base ensures a fast ride down powder, mushy snow, and bulletproof hardpack. A Stainless Steel Skin Lock clip also ensures your skins stay put all the way up the track.

Bent in the middle-- useless

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I used the Revert 181 with Dynafit bindings for about 12 days of earn-your-turns skiing, all kinds of conditions, in 2013-14, and they felt great. But then the first day of use this winter (2014-15) they bent upwards, right under the toe. Now there is a "rocker" of about 80 cm! When placed on a flat floor, neither ski touches until just under the toepiece of the binding, and one is bent so much that the tip is about 8 cm off the floor. They have become completely useless for skiing, unfortunately just past the warranty period. I am 180 pounds and not a very aggressive skier. No bad hits, no breaks, just bent. Bummer of a product.

Responded on

I had the same experience with mine. Started off normal camber, now fully reverse.

I'm a bigger guy (205lbs) and I just don't think these skis are up to to the task. They feel great on groomers but quickly fall apart in crud or heavier/deeper powder.

The weight is great for touring, though.

The Quiver Killer!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought these skis a few seasons ago and have been blown away by how amazing they are! I've skied them in everything from Telluride Steeps, Mid-west Chunder, to Australian packed powder and beyond. I've got a pair of Dynafit TLT Speed Radicals mounted on these bad chickens and it's a backcountry skiers dream package. Super light-weight, playful, and response.
