Black Diamond Quicksilver Quickdraw is simple, functional, and used by climbers everywhere. Held together by a Dynex dogbone, this bent-gate, straight-gate package can be appreciated by everyone from gym rats to crusty trad climbers. The Dynex dogbone holds the rope-end ‘biner in place to make it very easy to clip and makes for a very durable package. You'll get a lot of bang for your buck with the Black Diamond Quicksilver Quickdraw.
Bottom Line: Black Diamond's workhorse draw for value-conscious climbers—the Quicksilver Quickdraw.
This is a standard draw in its category and I've sport climbed and canyoneered with this device happily for two summers in Utah. Since I don't tackle long lead routes or trad where I'd need really light draws, I have absolutely no complaints. I believe in relying on tried and tested climbing gear, and this is one of those products by BD.
This is just a solid blue-collar draw. Obviously not too fancy, and not the best ever made by any means, but they also aren't thirty bucks. Not that my life isn't possibly worth another fifteen dollars, but I feel just as safe with these. I haven't had any real problems with them, and you can get them in a six pack.
What is the difference between the Black Diamond quicksilver Quickpack Quickdraws(blue) And the Black Diamond Quicksilber QuickWire Quickpack Quickdraws (green)????????????
The wire gates are great and light. Their easy to clip and actually safer. If you smack a wire the gate won't open because there is no mass to swing the gate open. probably wouldn't be a huge concern but its something to think about.
the quickwire quick pack has wire gates on the bottom clips whereas the quicksilver has a bent solid gate on the bottom see: http://www.backcountry.com/store/BLD0987/Black-Diamond-QuickWire-Quickdraw.htmli recommend the quickwire pack, i bought them myself and lovem

i see no reason to complain about these for the very minor problems I've had. by problems i mean the little snag on the gate you get if you go with anything but a keylock, but thats not what they are so who cares? little practice and its over. plus they're a fantastic draw, good wide gate for your thumb when your tired and cleaning the route and they come in a six pack! love that BD didn't make a six pack with their cheapest draws and chose these little beauties. and the dynex keeps things light and if you find yourself needing lighter, don't worry just get the six pack of basically these with a wire gate rope side
best qd for the money and it is a black diamond...can't go wrong with this choice. i have 12 for sport but also use them trad even though they are a little heavier than more expensive models
Just buy locking 'biners and replace the ones already on the draw, i don't think they sell pre-made quick draws with locking 'biners. That shouldn't really be necessary though, if you have time to lock a gate, you have time to make sure you didn't back-clip/ are opposites opposed.
The headline says it all. I use these for sport routes and clipping into passive pro on lead. I've also found them to be pretty lightweight, considering similarly priced alternatives. You can't go wrong with these.
I think these are a happy medium of having inexpensive draws for both sport and trad climbing. I am a little unhappy with how easily they twist. It seems no matter how I rig it that will always happen. So I'm buying draws with a thicker dogbone for sport climbing, but these were a great start for me. All said, I'd buy more
For the price, these are the cheapest, and get the job done. However if you are used to longer approaches and the possibility of big whippers where the mass of the gate could open it, or want a lighter qd, then go for some of the wire ones, however these are great for a starters rack for sure
They are strong, durable, and priced well. For your first quickdraws they are great, if you want the lightest and newest get something else. These are the base model. I have had them for two years and they have held up great, start with these and slowly add the expensive gear to replace them.
I picked up a couple of each size of these draws (long and short) because the price was right, and I wanted a quick draw I could use for both trad and sport. The bent gate end of the draw is unlike other quickdraws where the webbing is snug - on these it is loose which I've found is great for trad routes where I don't want a long runner but I do want the draw to allow the rope to travel a bit without twisting. For wandering sport routes where the standard quickdraw can create a "z" I usually reach for the Black Diamond Quicksilver. Exceeded my expectations.
I grabbed a bunch of these for clip-ups and pretty much love them. You can't really beat the price. BD makes sick gear that does the job well and lasts.
Over all, I think that this is a very nice draw. The gate action is very smooth and I found that it was pretty easy clipping the rope. The only thing I did not like is when I had to clean the route. Either the draw would catch on the bolt or the rope would catch. Also depending on the harness it would sometimes catch on that as well. After a while I got used to this, however, I am picking up the Black Diamond HotWire Draws for they are keylock on the top and wiregate on the bottom. All in all, I think that it's a great draw, especially for starting out sport climbing.
These are rad, simple good and don't break the pocket book. I like how they have the straight and bent shaft, so you can use either, sometimes the bent is nicer to use than the straight to get clipped in. It is just simple, basic and does the job good.
I like them, I only have 2 of these draws. But they work amazingly! The ease of use, lightweight, and construction of these draws is amazing. They are just as light as a wire gate but work just like your old solid gates do.
This is just a solid blue-collar draw. Obviously not too fancy, and not the best ever made by any means, but they also aren't thirty bucks. Not that more...
