Gloriously strong and suited to any use, the legendary Anodized Quicksilver proudly displays its divots from being tested to 12 kN. Every Black Diamond carabiner is pull-tested to half its rated strength before it leaves the manufacturing floor. Considered a classic in terms of function and design elegance, the Quicksilver has now added value to the formula. This closed-back carabiner has a streamlined body and an angled nose for easy clipping, and a wide rope-bearing surface that allows rope to travel smoothly through the biners. A high strength rating and relatively low weight top it off, making the Quicksilver irresistible to the value-conscious climber. -Vendor

I use the straight gate style for non rope end of my trad quickdraws. Though they are a little heavy, they feel super solid and the action is smooth.

Didn't buy it for climbing. Works great for attaching gear to backpacks, tying off an anchor line in BWCA, or hanging a bear bag. I wanted a cheap biner and this fits the bill.

They are a good price, but heavy. However, if you were deciding between these and the oval biners, I'd recommend these b/c the oval biners are a lot more bulky, especially if you are using these for trad gear.

BD Quicksilver

For the price these cant be beat. They are great in pairs or just buy the straight gate. I have used mine for years. I have attached a bent gate to most of the slings on my cams. If you are not buying wiregates then these are the biners to buy.

So So Biner

This is just an OK biner. I trust them to hold a fall, but not the best when you go to un-clip. They seem to hang up on the rope or runner if your not careful. Black Diamond has other much better biners on the market.

Great Carabiner!

I own a whole freakin' lot of these because they are so cheap and work great! I have given up buying quickdraws since I started Trad climbing and I now buy slings and these biners to make my own quickdraws. It is slightly more expensive to make your own draw, but I think it is much more efficient if you are climbing those climbs that are not very straight so you can make a 4ft draw or a 2ft draw. I use these for pretty much everything! I like the size and I think the weight is fine. I will continue to use and buy these biners, and I don't if everyone is giving this biner a bad review, I think they're great!

BD quality, good numbers, work-horse capability. Paired straight/bent gates for quickdraws are a solid foundation (nice clips) for any sport/trad rack. Not exceptional, yet slightly amazing.

Look for a different biner

Okay, but better biners on the market from BD and other manufacturers. Ended up using mine to clip my crampons onto outside of pack.

I bought a few of these for my backpack and to use in the campgrounds. They work fine for that purpose and I don't use them for climbing but I think they would work fine if you had to use them for safety reasons.

If you must

Decent Biners. I wouldn't do anything but sport with these, mostly I use them to clip gear to my pack, I believe on it holding my keys. They just dont have a smooth Rope to gear-ness about them. But they get the job done.

Junk.

Why waste the time even selling this Biner? Stop making them. Stop selling them. They catch on the rope at the clipping point. The new keylock system is far advanced and will never grab the rope. Petzl spirit biner have had the keylock system for years!? It took BD way to long to catch up with the times. WARNING! These are a waste of money. All of mine are never coming out of the bag.
