Thanks to Black Diamond's new Speed Adjust buckles, the Women's Primrose SA Harness provides a fast and precise fit whether you're in a T-shirt or layering for cold weather. Both the waist and legs adjust to accommodate extra layers, and none of the buckles need to be doubled back. Black Diamond added four molded gear loops to give the Primrose SA Harness enough space to carry a large trad rack, and a full-strength haul loop holds a tag line for multi-pitch routes.
Bottom Line: Stop wasting time fiddling with buckles. Gear up and get going with the Black Diamond Primrose SA Harness.
I have been using this harness to climb in the Eastern Sierras and couldn't be more pleased with the great quality and price. The harness is very easy to use and comfortable. I am 5"4' and 112lbs and purchased a size small because my thighs measured at the top end of the x-small size even though my waist was in the sizing range for x-small. The waist of the small must be cinched as tight as it gets to fit me--I probably would have been fine with the xs but the size small works just fine. The rigid gear loops make cleaning-up easy and the chalk bag loop is positioned vertically and in the center which is really nice. I highly recommend this harness especially considering the affordable price.
I'm new to climbing, but I have no complaints with this harness. I bought it because I hear good things about Black Diamond & wanted a solid, versatile harness. Locals at my climbing gym were impressed, and after climbing & belaying a few routes, I think I'm used to it now. Comfortable enough. I'm 5'5", about 110-115 & I got the small. Fits fine. I like the loops for the straps. woo hoo.

Does the "speed adjust" feature make much of a difference, vs the regular BD primrose harness? (i.e., any other differences between these?) I am new to climbing and mostly climb in a gym, so don't imagine I'll need to re-adjust much....
Love this harness! My sister and I each got one and wore them ferrata climbing in Italy in the Brenta Dolomites. They are light weight and comfy for wearing all day while going along the route and up and down ladders. We wore them 6-8 hours per day for 5 days on our hut-to-hut tour. The speed adjust buckles were also a main reason for upgrading our old harnesses.
I have help two different girls, with two different body shapes, shop for harnesses and both picked this harness. We quite literally tried on nearly every harness on the market, I believe you need to feel all your options to make a good choice. So going to every store that caries climbing gear on the Wasatch front, both tried on countless harnesses, after making there decisions we came to backcountry and got a good deal. I've even warn this harness once to belay, it is really comfy! I would recommend this to anyone who wants good solid comfort.
Love it. Easy-peasy, comfortable, adorable. what's not to love? Got a medium based on my measurements and what's recommended and it fits great. usually wear approximately sz 6 in jeans (meaning size 4 in women's, size 9 in juniors), have sort of wide thighs, not a lot of extra room, but plenty enough to still tighten it up to snug.
I just love the speed adjust. After having a trango for literally six years, I needed some new gear. And I picked a good one. It's nice that you can adjust the leg loops and belt with ease, no problems with it coming undone either. I picked the black/gray one and am a women's size 4 and chose to order the small. it's perfect. Also, the loops are just comfy enough to be in it all day. I got excited putting it on the first time, like I knew I wouldn't have to exchange it!
This is a very comfortable harness and the gear loops are easy to access. A nice feature for beginners learning to clean and lead. I bought a small (I'm 5'3" and 113 lbs) but for some reason, the Speed Adjust buckles on both the waist and legs have to be tightened throughout the day. While this is a minor inconvenience for single-pitch sport climbing, I'm not to thrilled with the idea of having to tighten my harness in the middle of longer multi-pitch climbs. Don't know if I just have a defective harness or if it is a problem with the SA buckle. I'm going to have to replace this harness, which is disappointing after less than a year of use.
Harness fit perfectly and the speed adjustable belt and leg loops are easy to get the hang of and quick to adjust. Harness is even comfortable to walk in on longer approaches and walk-offs. The leg loops are lined so on really hot days they get a little sweaty, but this didn't have an affect on my climbing.
This harness is great. Very easy to use. My only issue with it is the sizing. I thought that I would be between a small and a medium, I opted for the small. It is nearly impossible to get the harness over my hips without undoing it all the way, but to get it to fit properly once it's on I have to pull it all the way tight, till I cant tighten it anymore. So if you have bigger hips compared to your waist size beware.
I'm a novice climber. I have been using this harness for a year now and I can't complain. I am 5'3 & 115 lbs, and I bought a size Small. Comfortable. Easy to adjust. Reliable.
I bought this for my girlfriend and she likes it. She is 5'11" and wears a size M harness just like she wears size M clothes. We're both big fans of the "always doubled back" waist buckle. This one also has a haul loop, which comes in handy for trad. Lots of great features for the price.
Got a small according to the sizing chart, but the waist had to be tightened so much it started to overlap. I usually wear a size 4-6 depending on the brand, so I was a little disappointed that I had to pay to return it and buy another one. Other than that, love the speed adjust and am excited to try it out.
Overall, this is a comfortable harness, very easy to operate, AND I love the uniqueness of it! I would consider myself to have a small frame, but I got the medium and it fits fine, and allows some room.
I don't see anyone else with design or color on their harnesses when I'm climbing. I like to be a little bit different and show my personality through my gear. :-)
I really love this harness. It's comfy, easy and i always feel safe. The only short-fall is that it's just a tab bit too big. My waist is just 30 in (right between Small & Medium) so i went with Medium figuring that I'm more likely to put weight on then lose it. It sits right at my waist (will ride up from anywhere else) I pull the strap as tight as it will go and i can still fit my whole hand between the harness and my body. Oddly enough it's also a bit snug pulling it over my hips to put it on or take it off. But really, I swear, I really like this harness!
