This little light really packs a punch. It's small and light weight but puts out a good bit of light on dark nights. Very pleased with this little guy!
this thing rocks

this is a must have, this little guy gets hung up inside the tent with a bandana wrapped around it and the dim light is perfect for relaxing or whatever it is you do. The brightness and size are surprising!
eats batteries

This thing just doesnt work for me. It goes through batteries very quick and at the same time I could just use my headlamp and a light defuser to do the same thing and not carry anything extra. I would consider a gas lantern like what primus makes because it will be lighter, brighter and give off some heat for winter camping or when there is a fire ban. And if you use a jetboil most of the time you will already have the fuel and not need a bunch of extra batteries.
Its small!!
Its small!

I admit I missed that in the description. Its not a bad thing just a lot smaller than I thought it would be. Perfect for packing and perfect for the tent. We'll see how well it works while making dinner in the dark. I may grab another... I'll let you know.

This light is lightweight and fairly bright. It isn't enough to spot light bunnies with but it is great for in the tent, playing cards or hanging out around camp. I have been hauling one around for a year or so and I have since purchased one for my wife and a spare to throw in the vehicle.

I bought my first one of these lights to take on scouting outings from SAC. I liked them so much that when they came back on sale I bought some more and gave one to my son and a few others as gifts. Plenty of light, easy to hang in a tent or over the table plus they dim. Great at home for power outages as well. Go get 'ya one! (You'll be glad you did!)
overheating?

Great little light (not exactly ultralight backpacking style) and I love the dimming feature when less light is needed.
On one occasion the light stopped working and I thought I just exhausted the batteries. Later, at home, I tried again and it worked perfectly, for hours.
Is there a thermal cut-off if it does overheat, or something?
Great light otherwise.
Perfect for backcountry camping

Great little lantern. Light weight. Good battery life. Note: If it wont work on full setting turn the dimmer down and get more life out of it. It puts out great light for such a small unit. Perfect backcountry light.

big on light little battery used. I use this one as my go to light all the time when in the tent reading and getting situated, well designed and easy hooks on top to be able to hang and secure with gloves on. and attach to any loop inside tent. Small enough to take back packing. Used this one on outdoor photography shoots as it is compact, easy to dim and is bright enough and variable enough in light that can use is ambient light in tent for shots. Durable, have not had any issues. One i take on every trip. Only thing i may add is have a bigger or easier to feel button to turn on, with gloves on or cold fingers it can be hard to find in the dark.
good so far

For times in the middle of the night camping or when you are outside, this light you can hang inside a tent with ease withou t trying to find you headlamp. It takes up no room in your pack, weighs very little, give a lot of light, this is a no brainer.
Really Cool!

I like this lantern a lot. The top hooks work very well and make hanging it above you in your tent very secure (the trick is to use both hooks).
It's light, bright, and quite nice!
Love This Thing!

I wish it would go dimmer than it does and that it remembers it was dimmed when you turn it back on.
Great... but bring batteries

Love this lantern. It throws a lot of light, which is remarkable given its size. Only downfall is that it eats through batteries quickly. We've taken it on two camping trips in the past couple of months and the average life of the batteries is about one night.
Super light, super bright.

The title says it all. Except this: the power button could be easier to find... a bump or some texture would go a long way in the dark!
Great light. Light weight.

This light is great. Throw it in your pack to light your tent or keep around camp for those little jobs that come up during the night.
Great light but how do I change batteries....

Great light but how do I change batteries. Came as a gift with no instructions.

Hey Bruce,
Extend the light out, grab the exposed shaft, turn the base with the feet counter-clockwise. Nice gift, but you should check out the NRG-2 rechargeable battery pack so you can just plug in and never need to open it again. The whole system together is a regular part of my gear that I'm sure you'll appreciate too.
The item number for the battery pack is BLD 0415

Perfect little lantern for camping whether it be car camping, backpacking, or fort building in your living room. The dimming feature allows for you to set the mood in any setting. Trouble, pitching the tent in the middle of the night after a long week at work? No worries, this little guy has no issue with lighting the way. If 45 lumens isn't enough for you, they do make a bigger one.
great little light
