The Scarpa Nitro is a sleek and functional approach shoe for anyone who appreciates high quality construction and a flawless fit. The Nitro combines the dynamic Megabyte (Vibram) sole with a small rubberized toe rand to add protection and comfort on class 3 approaches and while rock scrambling. Crosta leather and synthetic mesh uppers are breathable and durable, and a ¾ lace-to-the-toe design allows for a great fit and look. Lightweight and flexible, the Nitro is an excellent shoe for the trails or the city streets.

Bottom Line: What's this? A light hiker that is awesome on the trail AND stylish?

Scarpa Nitro

By:

The Scarpa Nitros are an extremely comfortable fit right out of the box. They are true to size which I am thankful for since ordering footwear on line can be sketchy. I've hiked many miles in Scarpa Sl's and the Nitros reflect the same comfort and quality. Very satisfied with this purchase.

Nitro Shoes Rule!!!!!

By:

All I can say about this shoe is it is the best. I wear it everyday. I wear it to work. I wear it when walking or hiking. It is the most comfortable shoe and is supper supportive. For how much I have worn it there has been little wear. I only wear Scarpa tele boots and now I will only wear Scarp Shoes. It's a bit stiff for running but I will be using when doing some adventure type racing/training.

Great Shoe

I've had a pair for about 6 months and they are holding up to some serious abuse. They were comfortable out of the box. The sole has great shock absorption and also is a bit stiffer (more supportive) than most. The shoe vents well for my sweaty feet. I'll buy another pair.

Funky performer

I've got the old style Nitro, and I've had them for about 18 months now. I use them to go to work, but they look so damn good I wear them out to the pub...or hiking trails. The sole is brilliant for hiking, a lightweight, fully functional version of a full hiking sole. Not the best to run in though. The footbed is a little narrow, combined with lacing to the toe means wide feed will get cramped, at least until they're well worn in. The sole has some improvements over the old model, but I'm finding that it's separating from the upper. On the whole, a stylish shoe that is good for just about anything you want to do.

In search of consistency

By:

I buy a pair of shoes like these and wear them every day in hopes that they become part of my feet (I’m sure you can relate). Two pairs ago (in order of wearing them out) a set of Solomon lows were my new favorites. After wearing these out, the new Solomons came, but they were constructed differently than the previous pair. After nearly two years, these shoes (now in the closet) were still not broken in. So, here I am with the Nitros- First time on, these things wrapped around my feet like a mold! After a month, the Scarpa Nitros are confirmed as my new favorite shoes. These Italians know how to build a shoe! Please don't change the shoe up, because I'll have these things worn out soon and I want to buy the SAME NITRO again.

Great ordering experience with backcountry.com. Shoes are great and even work with my wide feet (I had to order half size bigger)! Very comfortable!

Scarpa Hikers? Need I say More?

By:
August 4, 2003

Scarpa has been making kick ass climbing shoes for a long time now - you'd think they knew a thing or two about shoes, and approach shoes for that matter. The Nitros are a very light, very comfortable shoe, great for day hikes, approaches, and kickin' it in town. The heavy duty Vibram sole would defnitely rock anyone's world who felt like they needed to beat you down. Evertime I'm in the ghetto, I'm wearin' these suckers!
