Its a beginner harness

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This harness isnt too comfortable to hang in for extended periods of time. The leg loops are easy to adjust along with the waist. The padding makes it a bit too stiff which cuts blood flow a bit when hanging. If your a beginner then this harness will get the job done. If your wanting to climb more then twice a week, pay the extra ten dollars and get the petzl sama. Its a much better harness and will be more enjoyable to use. I used this harness for a year before I got myself a Sama and wish I would have done it sooner, but then again Im a 5.12 climber and climb four times a week.

So if your a beginner and just climb for fun and wont be climbing more then two days a week, get this one and it will work great!

Gets the job done.

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This harness is a standard harness that's adequate for gyms, crags, and multipitches. Not exactly the most comfortable one out there, but super long-lasting and durable. Four gear loops, adjustable leg loops, you can't go wrong.

Awesome Harness from Beginner to Vet

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

If you want a harness that's comfortable, easy to get in and out of and has a pretty decent weight, then there is no reason not to get this guy. Sizing is spot on as well.

Hi, I have 30''-31'' (77-79cm) waist and there is no way i will have less then 30''. I would like to know Your opinions about size, because it will be my first harness. I tried M size and there is no way it will slip down of my hips.

Hey Ret, thanks for your question. With a 30-31" waist measurement I would suggest you get a medium. I have a 30" waist myself and I use a medium harness from Black Diamond.

Hey I just want to double check - sizing is pretty accurate on this harness, so for someone who wears a size 34 jeans, a Large (33"-36") is what I should be looking to pick up here, correct?

Hey Cap'in,

Sizing on this harness is pretty spot on. If you went with a size large you should be pretty happy with fit.

No fear

This will do everything you want and do it well! Tough harness. I mostly use this ice climbing but cranks hard on rock and mixed too! Another great piece from BD

Great Harness

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is my first harness and I have been using it for about 6 months now and I absolutely love it! I did a lot of research and decision making beforehand and ended up going with the momentum speed harness. It's comfortable, the sizes are spot on, and it doesn't ride up like your traditional strap harness. If your torso is between sizes (mine is), it shouldn't be a big deal which way you go but I would suggest picked the smaller of the two as long as you don't plan on getting much bigger. Overall, the only real sign of wear is a bit of fraying in the belay loop, but it's very minimal. If you are looking for great bang for your buck, this is the right choice, which is probably why so many people at my school's gym have this. Hope this helps!

I love this harness!

I have taken this harness everywhere. Indoor gym, outdoor sport, trad, top rope and Ice climbing! It goes where you go! I would recommend it!

Things is great!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My newest endeavor is rock climbing, and this harness has been right along during the whole thing! Fits well, works even better, if it didn't I wouldn't be here typing this message. haha

Love!

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift, but have feedback to share

I bought this for my boyfriend and he absolutely loves it! It's comfortable and his old harness didn't have a sling for a chalk bag on the back, but this one does - he didn't have to keep using his carabiner contraption to hold a chalk bag, ha! It's light weight and has comfortable padding

Great! Even If It's a Little Big!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought this in the XL size because I thought it would be nice if a harness was too big over too small. I wish I would have bought the L now that I look back,(I have about a 35 waist) but this harness has done me good! This was my first harness, and since I bought it I have done some lead climbing in the gym and A TON of top rope over the past 3 or 4 months and this harness is holding up great. Since I mainly am gym climbing I can't myself squeezing every last ounce if weight out of my equipment, (considering most gym walls aren't terribly tall.) so this harness feels relatively light, although I haven't tried many other harnesses to compare but this one feels great to me. I am still a beginner so my opinion on this harness might not be as valid as for someone who has been climbing their whole life, but I hope this helps. Great beginner harness, does what i wanted it to do and more!

Good Trad Harness

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Gear loops can fit your whole rack, sport or trad. Has enough padding to be comfortable all day. Good adjustability. I've got an older model, and the newer models look like they've made some quality improvements. I don't use it for alpine climbing because the padding gets wet and icy. Price is right where it should be.

Great for the long haul

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I work at a high ropes course and use it belaying for 5+hrs at a time. The four wide hooks make for a lot of good room to clip in all the heavy gear I haul up and down the poles easily and they're spaced far enough things don't get tangled. It's also very easy to get in and out of and fits true. Overall I am very satisfied with this purchase.

My best friend

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My first and favorite harness. I would happily recommend to the beginner and the regular. It's my best friend on a climb.

Decent, inexpensive harness

I bought this for indoor climbing mostly, but also use it for single-pitch sport routes, and it has been great!

Seems durable, enough loops for everything I need on shorter routes, I like the convenience of the quick-adjust leg loops but I also think I would feel more comfortable on longer routes with a traditional strap

I have hung it it for extended periods of time a couple times, and I can say it is not very comfortable in extended hangs; on longer climbs where more gear is required I wouldn't recommend this

Decent, inexpensive harness

Good Quality for the Price

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The harness is quite comfortable and works well for the climbing that I do. It takes a couple days for it to loosen up and fit better, but after that it is extremely comfortable. It runs quite a bit larger than advertised on the site, I bought a large thinking it would fit me, as it matched my waist size, but I have to have it almost completely tightened to fit correctly. The Medium didn't fit symmetrically though, so if you are on the border it might be hard to pick a size.

Gear loops are well built, overall nice harness and feels like it will last for awhile. Only con is that the leg loops adjustment sliders are made of plastic.

Quality at the nice price

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I've seen so many other climbers in this harness that I've lost count of my "harness twins." There's a reason everyone is sporting it - affordable and super solid, like everything Black Diamond offers. I fall between medium and large and went with the large harness, it is frequently on the tightest setting. 5'10" about 175, and I could definitely sport the medium with no difficulty.

Great All Around Harness

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Updated my 8 year old Camp Harness to this, could not be more pleased for climbing in the gym and the crags. Waist belt is very comfortable and conforming. Is a bit long for a medium, Im a 33 waist and cinched all the way. It absorbed falls very comfortably. Very light, just waiting for winter to see how it will do over my ski gear.
Pros: Comfort, weight
Cons: may be a bit big at the waist for the size, leg loops don't stay tight, waist buckle gives a little when cinched all the way, loosens by a cm or 2.
Overall worth the money, great beginner and weekend warrior harness
