This is my first package and so far it has been great. The harness is super comfortable and easy to adjust. Chalk bag, biner, and belay device are pretty standard. At $99 this is a great set-up.

Got this when I first started climbing, and I still use it. The adjustablility is great and the padding is great. And the ATC and biner are pretty much industry standard belay stuff, so how can you go wrong?
I replaced the string on the chalk bag with a clippy strap, and that's the only thing I would change about this kit.
Everything needed to get the job done

Great setup for beginners to climbing for the price. Unlike over I have had no problem with the chalk ball and bag included like others. Sack iincluded is nice for keeping it all together

This is perfect for new climbers. I just started and this provides me with everything I need, except my shoes which I bought separately.

This is a nice package that provides everything you need, except shoes, to get started climbing at a rock gym. You could piece together a beter combination of gear for less money, but it will take some work. This package becomes a really great value when it goes on sale 20-30%.
The Momentum SA harness is comfortable. I prefer the ease of the "SA" style adjustment to the "AL"because it is faster to get the harness on and tight. There is a fairly narrow range of adjustment on the waist so choose your size carefully, or go with the "DS" which allows for double the adjustment. I wear a 28-30" waist in most pants/shorts and I am at the maximum adjustment on a medium, I ended up going with a small, but the leg loops fit a bit tight even at their loosest adjustment. The adjustment on the waist is asymmetric which felt weird at first but does not effect the function of the harness. The weight is fairly low, I am sure there are lighter harnesses out, but for the price I was pleasantly surprised.
The carabiner and belay device are standard and work just fine for the beginner level climbing and rappelling I have done.
As others have stated the chalk bag is too small to get chalk on anything but your fingers. It is a very simple bag, no additional pockets or webbing to hold anything other than chalk. The closure on the bag is good, I have not had many issues with chalk coming out when drawn shut. I also did not find the attachement strap very functional, a small snap buckle would have been beter. In my opinion the chalk back is really the only sacrifice you make by going with this pre-organized kit as opposed to something you piece together.
I have only had the equipment for about a month now, so I cannot comment on long tearm durability/reliability.
Great package deal

Nice kit although I don't care for the new buckles on this one (plastic) Last years had metal double back style buckles for the leg loops. both very comfortable and I'm sure the new one is fine, I just prefer metal over plastic if I have the choice.
Great harness for the price

The harness biner and atc are good. but the chalk bag is pretty small. i have just above medium sized hands and my hands get stuck in the bag. i had to get rid of my chalk ball because holding the ball in the bag does not allow for my hand to come back out easily. I bought the metolious bag that looks just like this one. except the metolious bag is large AND the bag closes all the way. even if i pull super tight on the draw string. i can only get it to about a quarter sized hole. otherwise a decent set. i'd recommend you check out the bag before you buy the package. otherwise just buy everything separate. the chalk bag needs to be bigger and able to close all the way.
