These things are simply ridiculous. I skied with these all day long in 10-15F weather before windchill and my hands were never cold once.

As others have noted, the trigger finger in the liner is a little odd, but I like how BD made the liner and shell large enough to accommodate those who don't wish to use the trigger finger. I prefer to use it because it gives me a better frame of reference of where my fingers are in the mitt and where I should be putting my grip. Your mileage may vary.

Let me start by stating I have experienced several bouts with frostbite leaving my hands cold and sensitive. I was looking for a mitt for the weather below 10 F. (Gloves do fine above 5F) I read up a bunch and decided on these prior to our Utah trip over the Christmas holiday. I really like the trigger finger liner and the fact that the removable liner is held in with a continuous hook-and-loop strip. They do not bunch up or come out very easily and dry very quickly. Thicker on the top than the palm. Awesome design bar none. After I received them, I was actually a bit apprehensive about these mitts being too warm, but at 5F (top of Alta Supreme lift) they were fine. At -5 (top of Strawberry Gondola - Snowbasin) with winds in excess of 40 MPH and total whiteout, they were perfect. While in SLC, I stopped by the warehouse (HUGE!!) and bought a pair each for my wife and son. It made a big difference in their comfort on the mtns. Awesome product and the people at your company are fantastic, friendly, and very helpful. They were also open at 8:00AM, (on Christmas Eve) so we still were able to made it up Little Cottonwood Canyon w/o loosing too much "hard core" time. One final word of advise, a mitt is supposed to fit like a car in a garage meaning you want these roomy. I wear a large in all gloves/mitts. These at first seemed too large, but that's exactly how you want them to fit. The mitt doesn't keep your hand warm, the hand heats up the air and the mitt insulates it. Hope this helps!

These mittens are super warm! Best warmth for the price that I have found. I have terribly cold hands and use the mittens on those cold days at the resort, in addition I always carry them with me into the backcountry (mostly the Canadian Rockies). Durability thus far (two years) has been great.

since everyone else has already listed all the technical advantages of these mitts, i'll just say they're THE mitten for those long, cold, windy, hanging belays when its 0 degrees F and your partner is taking forever to lead the crux pitch.

These mitts are toasty!! I don't often need to use them because I use my Legends unless it gets REALLY cold. When it does get that cold, these are the answer!!! I used them the first time ice climbing and bought my girlfriend a pair on the drive home. She wears them for everything now. Gotta say, hers are white and grey and look great.

Stupid warm, but be prepared to loose all dexterity. This is not a climbing mitt- think of it like a warm happy place for your hands- you 'can' hold onto ski poles, but don't plan on knowing whether you're holding onto them or not.

I have raynauds disease, meaning my extremities lose circulation in the cold and my fingers turn white and I can't feel them. I bought these for long stints outside. They are the only mitts that keep my hands warm. They are bulky but I knew that buying them - looking for warmth, not movement.

Wore these in 20 degree weather making an igloo and my hands were down right warm. They also proved to be very waterproof.

I use two. The Samurai Ice climber and when their hands are cold use the Mercury get heat quickly. Very hot and comfortable. The Best Warm !!!

I love these things. I got them last season, and will never go back to gloves. I use them for snowboarding in the northeast, and when the temps drop, I can't feel a thing. Highly recommended, especially if you tend to have cold hands.

I bought these mittens for winter camping in Northern Minnesota in February and March. The temperatures ranged from 20 degrees to -30 and these mittens kept me warm for every minute. They are soft and warm on the inside and have an outer shell that will block the wind and keep the water and snow out. I would highly recommend these to anybody looking to get out and enjoy the winter for all the great activities it has to offer. Great Product!

I've gone through quite a few gloves and mittens while skiing throughout the US, including some cold-a$$ days in VT and NY. These mitts are, without a doubt, the warmest I have ever tried. It's not even close. Even after removing them so that my kids can warm their hands in a pinch, I put them back on to my own, now frozen, hands, and in literally moments, they're back to normal. These things must have nuclear material; it's as if they generate warmth. They eliminate wind and stop moisture, too. Truly miraculous. I also like the fleece-like texture on the inside. If you get cold hands, get these and you'll never look back.

I just took these things on a trip up Mt. Washington and they were super warm! I like to keep warmers in my gloves in case my hands have no heat left in them to warm up the gloves. I had my hands outside of these mitts more than in they were so hot. Easy on and off. These DO come with a leash on them, very handy. They appear to be very durable as well.

these were for my husband...he loves them. Took them to Silverton where it couldn't have been higher than 15 degrees and his hands were not cold at all. He also took his old gloves as we hit Wolf Creek too...if it does get too warm out, your hands will sweat in these.

I'm outside in 19 degree Fahrenheit weather trying to take pictures of the Lunar Eclipse, which required me to take off these mitts.

Now, having very sensitive hands, that sucked.

But, as soon as I put these mitts back on, you could just feel the hands warm up and within a minute and a half, they were getting clammy cause they were so warm.

I swear by these mitts and will never go back to gloves (with the exception of a pair of EMS Windstopper gloves I use on mild days and when I'm on duty (Fulltime MP))

My need was unusual, I wanted something that would keep my fingers warm on my bicycle when doing 20mph @ 20 degrees. These mitts do the trick - sure there's a loss of dexterity, but they make the difference between riding and not riding on a given day. worth every penny.

These gloves are obviously well made and very warm. However, when I ordered them, I had searched for women's gloves and these came up. I assumed they were women's sizes but when I recieved what I thought was a women's medium - it was a Men's mediium and much too large. When ordering for a woman - order a size smaller.

When the temperature dips below fifteen degrees F I have not found a more comfortable product than the Black Diamond Mercury Mitten. I have tried a number of mittens and gloves and the Mercury Mitten is unsurpassed in comfort, fit, and value.

Warning: these gloves are TOO WARM for regular winter use. You won't even want to wear them if it isn't cold enough. Many times I just use the shells. I have been over 19,000ft in Ecuador and didn't feel a thing. The trigger finger is a little uncomfortable, i think they are too big, but I just don't use it and put my index finger with the rest and it's fine. They're great.
