When life revolves around the epic quest for deep, fluffy powder, pull on the Black Diamond Mad Max Glove and head out to do battle. This burly goat-leather glove features a Gore-Tex waterproof breathable insert and a wool lining to keep your hands warm and dry as you slash turns in your frozen Thunderdome. Black Diamond also added molded knuckle pads for extra protection and warmth.
Bottom Line: Two gloves enter, one glove leaves—The Mad Max Glove.
I love the combination of durability and protection that these glove provide. Being a full leather glove the mad max will take a beating. This was my go-to glove this past winter and they barely show any of the abuse that I put them through. I am a big fan of padding over the knuckles on ski gloves and this glove does not disappoint in that department, in fact it excels. The padding is thick and covers the majority of the top of your hand. I have punched too many rocks to ever have an everyday ski glove with out some sort of protection for my knuckles. Good dexterity and warmth as well. Plenty warm for all but the coldest of places.
This glove is a great glove for those days when you are banging through trees, or worried about hitting your hands on rocks... but overall these gloves take a while to break in, and once they are broken in, your hands get cold. If you are going to go with BD, either get the Patrol or Guide, both really nice gloves and they keep your hands warm as well.

They can do both. I slide my shell jacket over em and zip my coat up with them already on but if you have a little bigger cuff you can just pull them over.
Really nice glove for ski mountaineering where ropes, rocks and hands collide. They have lots of padding for protection, but still maintain a good dexterity. Not warm enough for me on the colder days.
What else to say, these are the most bad ass gloves available. They are surprisingly warm for the amount of insulation and are very comfortable. They also fit my skinny yet long hands well. I use them for skiing and they are amazing. Im hoping to get into ice climbing and I imagine they are sweet as well.
Awesome glove, very warm yet flexible. Can still have useable hands. Haven't skied in super cold weather yet, however they seem like they'll do well. Also, good water-proof. Nice padding on knuckles and fits under your jacket sleeve well. I definitely recommend it, although pricey it's top of the line and worth it.
wool and fleece, some of the most comfortable insulations unite in one awesome glove. my hands dont get cold in them unless its super warm and theyre sweaty or its blowing into the negatives. the padding is great too (one of my racer buddies almost borrowed them to train slalom). all in all a great deal for your hands
These gloves get me from skiing in the deep winter where, for me, only a heavy mitten makes sense through the less cold times. It is a warm glove, but never got sweaty. They broke in quickly. They got into a rainy day and stayed dry inside. The leather is really rugged, and just does not show wear--yet. This may be the nicest thing I own.
Unfortunately I haven't got a chance to use them yet... :_( They are the most solid looking and feeling gloves I have yet to own. The insulation isn't the thickest, but the shell is really thick leather. Most people will probably want a secondary wool liner for extra warmth. If your a Sasquatch on the slopes I highly recommend these!
After trying many different so called "always warm" gloves in Wyoming's backcountry, I can finally say I have found the one with the Mad Max. I was fine after whacking my knuckles on annoying pinelimbs all day in 10 degree weather. My hands never felt cold nor did they get uncomfortable. I am glad though that I bought the extra large, they do fit tight with all the wool on the inside. I would recommend going up a size and enjoy the best pair of extreme weather gloves I have ever had.
I love the combination of durability and protection that these glove provide. Being a full leather glove the mad max will take a beating. This was my more...
This glove is a great glove for those days when you are banging through trees, or worried about hitting your hands on rocks... but overall these gloves more...
