Description

Use the Long Flex Center Bars to extend your überlight Black Diamond crampons for ice adventures.

You have a set of Black Diamond crampons that are too small for your Sasquatch-sized man-boots. Instead of scrapping your trip or buying a new set of crampons, grab a pair of Long Flex Center Bars and hit the ice. The extra-large spring center bar loves your oversized boot, and the easy switch-out means you spend less time fiddling with your feet and more time using them to stomp the chilly glassy stuff.

I have some size 46/12 Lowa 8000 meter expedition boots I'm planning to take to Denali's West Buttress and my normal G12s (with back snap clip and front strap) don't quite extend long enough. I thought the 190cm length in the flex version would be good for the majority of low angle glacier travel we will see on the Denali expedition... But, I also may do some light vertical ice climbing in some of the Wyoming canyons when done with the expedition and I don't know if the "flex/suspension" would be good for that or if it would be fine either way since maybe the stiffness on climbing vertical ice comes from the boot sole and not the crampon heel-toe link?.. Can someone please help?

Does the trick!

I just switched these out to fit my size 13 Lowa Mountain Expert boots and took them up Mount Shasta. They worked great and may even allow for even more flex due to their length. They're as comfortable as crampons can be and great for anything Mount Shasta can offer.

works well

I have size 13 feet and knew ahead of time my boots were longer than Black Diamond stated the contact strap crampons would go. I ordered these at the same time, switched them in (1 minute), and then the crampons worked just fine.

I went with flexible since I will often be using them with just a stiff backpacking boot as opposed to plastic boots.
