Black Diamond designed the LiveWire Carabiner for sport, trad, and ice climbers who want a big, easy-to-clip carabiner with all the advantages of a lightweight wire gate. Not only does this wire-gate design eliminate gate whiplash, which could result in the opening of a solid gate during a fall, but it is also freeze-proof, so you'll never cuss at it for freezing closed on an alpine climb. The LiveWire also has the largest basket of all Black Diamond carabiners, making it an excellent choice to use at anchors and other places where you have to clip tons of gear to the same place.

I ordered these by accident. I usually use the Black Diamond Hotwire. The Livewire's are a bit bigger than the hotwires. I'll stick with Hotwire's in the future. Light is right- But, these are a nice oval shape, good for clipping when you're pumped.

This thing sets the rope in so nicely and makes the rope so easy to clip when you are pumped out. Don't leave home without it.

Gotta love the 25KN main axis rating of most BD biners. This is a good size for easy clips, I use cosmetic seconds of these on most of my alpine draws because I'm into well built cheap gear. Not the lightest, but definitely not a heavy weight.
