Snag-free unclipping with a wire gate.

The Black Diamond LiveWire Carabiner makes clipping and unclipping easier than ever so you can keep on climbing instead of fumbling with draws and runners. Unlike most wired carabiners, HoodWire Technology ensures snag-free unclipping by placing a ring around the hook so the rope doesn't get caught. Hot-forged stainless steel keeps the LiveWire surprisingly durable for how light it is. Black Diamond molded the biner with a draw-friendly surface that keeps your runners and draws in the correct orientation for your peace of mind, and sculpted ribs give you the advantage when you need to clip and cruise.

Not as good as the old livewires...

    • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

...AKA "The Fin", but still probably the best rope-end crab available.

Their distinctive shape makes ham-fisted clips much easier, and, like all wiregates, the middle-finger-stabilized-pinch clip is buttery smooth. Basically, if you blow a clip on these guys, you can't blame the draw.

The hood-wire is technically an improvement over older wire-gate hooks, but the weird shape of livewires and dynotrons means that they're really only good for the rope end, so the feature doesn't really add anything.
